Moon
In the corner of this cell I have all the time I need to think.
A chained monster can't escape after all.
The sky is red, the same color as the blood that flows through my veins,
The same color that has stained me.
The small window turns from red to black.
Darkness is here, but soon the light I dread will rise to break it.
I tried to rinse the blood from my hands.
It was everywhere.
Not just my hands, my teeth, no, my fangs were dripping with her blood.
She wasn't the first.
I'm afraid that she won't be the last.
A sliver of light.
I feel it coming.
My skin rips open.
My teeth begin to lengthen.
I see it now.
It's almost as if it has a face on these nights.
An evil scowl that condemns me as it mocks me.
They lied when they said this curse was gone.
Their leaving didn't break it.
I break free of the chains that bind me.
Sweet, terrible freedom.
Leaving through the window.
I cast the shadow of a man.
Tonight is the night.
The night that I always dread.
Tonight is the full moon.
