"You're looking at two of the most fascinating minds I've ever encountered."

It was Rossi who had voiced it in words but she'd seen it before from other people. In Hotch's eyes when Reid raises his gun at an unsub; in Gideon's letter of goodbye at the cabin. Morgan's hand settling on his shoulder after a job well done. Oh and even in the way Prentiss teases the young man about puzzles he figures out in a matter of seconds.

What they saw was pure brilliance. Some may not understand everything he says, but Spencer Reid always amazes them with his points of view.

When she saw him with Sammy Sparks, the autistic little boy who's parents were missing, her heart melted on the spot. The case had been hard on everyone but they had been called for a reason; had been trusted with this child's life in their hands. Maybe they felt these feelings because she was a mom. Or that Reid knew how Sammy felt. Who knows? But as he sat down and started playing notes, their was a connection.

It was like a light went on in Sammy and he could respond. Reid had found a way to understand the words locked in the boy's mind and hear what he'd been trying to tell them. Then the moment came and struck JJ with a warm feeling in her soul.

Sammy very carefully took Reid's hand and placed his fingers on the correct keys. That in itself was breathtaking, for the boy to make that big of a step. Then she noticed the wheels turning in her genius' mind. He counted out the pattern and kept replaying it until finally he understood what Sammy was saying. It was like the light clicked on for Reid.

He'd always been so smart but he knew what it was like to be in his own world. Why Sammy felt so isolated and even sad that people couldn't understand him. He could be this boy's voice and in turn, his eyes were opened to beautiful music.

As Sammy was reunited with his family, Reid and JJ headed back to the BAU. Everyone on the team felt lighter as they finished paperwork and relaxed for the night.

"Spence!" JJ called out. The young man turned and smiled.

"Yes, JJ? What is it?" A small gulp as she got close in his personal space.

The blonde smiled softly and reached up to touch his cheek. "Just - good job out there today. You were amazing."

As the young genius blushed he thanked her. "Would you like a ride home?"

"I'd love one," she replied before wrapped an arm around his waist. Reid felt giddy as he returned it.

So many times he'd unknowingly offered JJ comfort and now it was her turn. Neither of them would be alone again.
