A/N: After the war, I imagine that it would be a long time before the Malfoys finally were respected in society again, and that Draco would regret being a Death Eater, and as such would be very hesitant about dating anyone after the war, and probably have a lot of self-esteem issues to get over, so essentially that's what this poem is about. Please enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters used in this poem.
It's so very ironic
((You can't help but think to yourself))
You, D-r-a-c-o M-a-l-f-o-y falling for h e r
((Her. A/s/t/o/r/i/a G/r/e/e/n/g/r/a/s/s.))
How ironic
((You muse.]]
Ironic isn't it?
That the girl who could be
The best for you
You happen to be the worst for?
If you are a shot in the dark
Then she is as clear as the morning light.
You who have nothing to lose
[[And with good reason;))
[[That Mark on your arm still remains, after all]]
She is willing to risk everything
All for you.
And you can't help but feel guilty.
But you're selfish
((Always have been.))
And keep hanging on.
And as a result are holding her down.
From other people.
People who are better for her than you.
But she doesn't see it that way.
In fact, she actually enjoys being with you.
[[And that's what really shocks you above all else.]]
You always change your mind
But you cannot change hers.
Ironic, isn't it?
Considering how stubborn you used to be.
[[Who's the stubborn one now, though?))
Perhaps it's time to stop being s-t/u-b/b-o/r-n now.
And break down your walls.
And just let her in.
Because for once in your life
You've actually found someone who truly wants to be with you
This you, the former Death Eater that's trying to reform
Not the You who used to strut around Hogwarts like he owned the place
The true and entire you:
Flaws and weakness and all.
And the irony's there as once more:
When you were younger, you always thought you would serve the Dark Lord,
And be so high up and successful and respected
And marry some pure-blooded witch like Pansy Parkinson
Who you had things in common with and were friends with
But did not truly love.
((Not really.]]
Part of that has come true:
You did become a Death Eater
[[Except it turned out to be the biggest mistake of your life]]
((And you don't receive half of the amount of respect that you used to))
And Astoria is Pure-blood
But you know that you actually
Love her
Not for her blood, but for who she is
For better or worse, there's been a lot of irony in your life
But there's one thing you're sure of:
Regardless of whether or not you're the worst for her,
She's the best for you.
A/N: For those wondering, this was not a companion piece to any particular other HP fanfic of mine- which are all available on my profile for those interested- however I imagine it really could work for any of them after the war. Please Review! :)
