"Come on," Elliot insisted, exasperated. "You have to get this. It's very easy."
A set of soft chocolate eyes just stared at him, uninterested.
"It's not that hard," he insisted.
Still nothing.
He rocked back on his heels and scrubbed at his unshaven chin. There had to be something...
The helpless victim continued to study him with a strange intensity.
Olivia came up behind her husband, resting her hand on his back. "El, what are you doing?"
Elliot looked up at her, frustrated. "I'm trying to teach Ben to say trick or treat." Elliot looked at his two year old son.
Olivia looked down at him. "El, he may not get it this year."
He nodded, slightly disappointed. "Okay." He picked Ben up and held him close. "Maybe next year, huh, sport?"
Ben grinned at him and hugged him tight, sighing contently.
Olivia straightened out her dress. "Come on. We have to go meet Kathy and pick up the twins and Eli."
Leaning over, he kissed her forehead. "Have I told you today how much I love you?"
She pouted playfully. "Not in the last twenty minutes. I'm beginning to feel neglected."
He grabbed her with his free arm and dipped her dramatically. "What about now?" He kissed her slowly, and when he pulled away, he smirked at the dazed look on her face.
She licked her lips. "What was I saying?"
He chuckled, pulling her against his chest and sweetly kissing her forehead. "Get the keys, and I'll meet you in the car, baby."
As Olivia walked away, Ben rested his head on Elliot's shoulder. "Tweet," he said softly, and Elliot grinned.
Next Halloween... Sure...
The End!
