The team were waiting for their ride to the academy. They were exhausted after their emotional day the day before, but had to put their game faces on. One of the group that looked seriously lighter though, as if he had slept soundly for the first time in years. Catherine was convinced that a great weight had finally been lifted off Gil's shoulders and he had a new "I'm going to enjoy life" air about him. She was relieved. She had watched too many times the pain and anguish he had put himself through even though she had misunderstood the reasons for it. She didn't know what he and Jim had spoken about alone in that room, and wasn't going to ask, but it had taken years off her best friend. She hoped that he could now truly move on with his life!
Greg had started bouncing again. The coffee had obviously kicked in. He was psyched at going to the academy and "moulding young minds". He also had a million and one other questions for Jim and Sara. Like, will they be naming their child after him or one of the other guys? He was so happy that they were family again and wanted to ensure that it stayed that way. He made a silent promise to those around him that their family would never be broken again, that none of them would feel pain as long as he could do something about it. But back to the matter at hand, could he really help the next generation of nerds to become CSIs like Sara and the guys had helped him? It was way too cool to think about!
Nick and Warrick looked over to the youngest of the gang and laughed. How could a CSI be that obvious to read they were both thinking. His thoughts and emotions were plastered all over his face. They chatted about various cases that were pending at home and what the other thought of the task at hand. They both thought the concept of a CSI academy was a brilliant one and was sure that Sara would have put in 110 of herself as she did with everything else. They were sure it was a major success already and would only increase that success as time went on!
Sara and Jim were already in Sara's office going over the plans for the day. After everyone had gone home last night they had stayed up talking things through as they always, well now, did. Jim had woken Sara with breakfast in bed complete with roses after the couple had had a peaceful nights slumber. In the office they decided on the cold case that they would go through, hoping that the injection of an established crew would help their students no-end.
They needed to see how the individual facets and responsibilities of a team melded into a theory about, and subsequent completion of a case. Secretly Sara was hoping that they would get through more than one case while they were here too. She wouldn't admit it, but she missed working with her family.
