Long ago, a glowing baby was born in China. Soon after strange powers started to appear everywhere. These new powers were called quirks and they represented a new age of human evolution. With the emergence of quirks, there came people who abused them and with the appearance of villains, a new career that had only been in comic books came forward.
Heroes.
My name is Kenta Shimura. I'm the grandson of Nana Shimura, the seventh user of the quirk "One for All". I'm the son of Isabelle and Kenji Shimura and I am the twin brother of Tenko Shimura. This is the story of how I became one of the greatest heroes ever!
I groaned as I was hit in the gut multiple times. I was being held by my arms by the two gorillas of the second grade and I was being punched by their ringleader, the baboon. Now, before you say anything I'm being serious about being held by two gorillas and hit by a baboon. The two gorillas were better known as 'The Twins' on the playground and their mere name struck fear into the hearts of the entire elementary school. Then there was their stupid bad breathed baboon leader that had little man syndrome.
Nobody called them by their names, due to several threats to second grade teeth being knocked out. The group had insisted on everyone calling them 'The Apes' so that was what everybody called them. Now that their backstory is finished I guess I'll get back to me being savagely beaten (oh joy).
Now if you were wondering how I got into this mess I'd have to say it started around ten minutes ago. I had seen 'The Apes' teasing a brown haired girl and I had snapped. Looking back on it, I could have handled it better. Probably waited and jumped them behind the school or something but I wanted to teach them a lesson. I ran towards them and tackled their stupid baboon leader. I yelled as I hit him in the face. "You cowards! Pick on someone who's as big as you!"
Suddenly I was jerked back by the two gorillas and they pinned me to the ground. It was at this time, I activated my quirk and felt adrenaline shoot through my body. I roared as I gained inhuman second grader strength and pushed them off of me. I broke into a run and sprinted away. I was only able to run for a minute until my quirk ran out. Suddenly I was very tired and I collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily.
I was picked up by the collar and I hit the gorilla's arm weakly. I couldn't do anything. My limbs felt like they were jello.
The gorilla threw me onto the concrete and I whimpered in pain. I tried to crawl away but I was kicked in the jaw with a foot. My lip busted but it healed just as fast as it happened. "You two, pick him up and hold his arms."
They picked me up and held my arms as the baboon kid stood in front of me. I looked at the baboon and spit in his face. He growled and hit me in the gut. As the first hit connected, he whispered in my ear, "You're weak."
Then the onslaught of punches started. I didn't have the energy to do anything but groan in pain as he punched me with all he had. Then everything suddenly went dark.
I woke up later when I threw up on the concrete. My throat burned from my retching and my body ached. I pushed myself up and wiped the mess off my face. I looked around and noticed the sun was setting. I winced, from the pain in my gut and from the future punishment I was very likely to get when I returned to the orphanage where I lived.
I rushed back to the orphanage, but it had become nighttime. The sisters were seriously going to have my hide.
It was an old rundown brick building that was tucked into an alleyway where you couldn't find it unless you purposely wanted to. I wiped my feet on the ragged rug outside of the steel blue painted door. Then I cracked the door open to see Sister Gertrude standing right inside the door, tapping her foot impatiently. Sister Gertrude was an old German woman, in her mid sixties at least. She had stringy grey hair and wrinkly skin all over her body. She had a long pointy nose that reminded me of a witch from those old children's stories she used to read us. Normally she was like an old grandma, with a bad accent with her Japanese. Just harmless and caring, Sister Gertrude but not this time. She had her arms crossed and her face was not one that I wanted to see at that time.
I pretended she wasn't there at first. I took off my shoes and put them neatly by the door. Then I started to make my way towards the old stairwell. Suddenly she cleared her throat. I sighed in exasperation. "It wasn't my fault. I got held up at school."
"Did you get into a fight again?"
"I didn't."
"Your a terrible liar."
I shook my head and turned to her to defend myself. "They deserved it. They were picking on a little kid. I had to help him."
Sister Gertrude chuckled lightly. "Your always so eager to get yourself hurt so others won't have to. It's an admirable trait but you should be a little selfish sometimes." She kneeled down and looked at me face to face. She put her wrinkled hands on my shoulders and smiled. "You don't need to prove yourself to anyone."
"I'm not proving myself. If I'm selfish I'll never be a great hero. In fact, I'm going to be the most selfless hero and I'll help people who can't help themselves."
She stood up and nodded to me. "I believe you. If anyone can become a great hero, you can."
I bowed deeply. "Thanks Sister. Does this mean I'm out of punishment?"
"Nope, you're scrubbing the johns for a week."
"It wasn't my fault, Sister!"
"I can't just let you skip out on the rules. No matter how much I favor you over the others."
I put on my best pair of puppy dog eyes. "Can't you just let me slide this time?"
"No way, Kenta-kun. I don't buckle under cute faces. I'm too old for that."
"Fine." I grumbled before I walked up the stairs to bed.
7 years on the day of Yuuei Entrance exams...
I arrived at the gates of Yuuei Academy with a smirk on my. I had no doubt I would be able to place highly on the written and physical exam. I had been training two years for this. My quirk, my body, and my mind weren't like they were two years ago. I was no longer the scrawny kid and my quirk had drastically increased in duration. Two years before, I could pump my adrenaline for a max of five minutes before passing out from exhaustion. Now due to my athletic body, I could keep it going for twenty minutes and I could still move once it ran out. It's duration would only increase the more I trained and used it so I wasn't scared of being passed up by anyone.
I stood at the gates, staring at the huge school. Until somebody bumped into me. The person who bumped me was an ash blonde boy with really bad posture. "Excuse you." I muttered just loud enough for him to hear it.
He turned around and held his palm skyward. Small explosions popped in his hand and he grinned sadisticly. "What was that, extra?!"
I wasn't going to back down from this guy, he bumped into me and then treated me like dirt. My eyes narrowed. "You heard what I said."
"You want to fight! I'll kick your ass before you can do anything!"
"Ha! You?! Kick my ass!? I'd like to see you try!"
"K-Kacchan," A small voice piped up beside us. "Y-You shouldn't be fighting random people."
The boy by the name of Kacchan and I turned to the small voice. It belonged to a boy with curly green hair. Kacchan growled as the green haired boy came into his vision. "Stupid Deku! Mind your own damn business."
Deku cringed and shook like a leaf. "S-Sorry Kacchan."
I looked at Deku and I immediately pinned him as a wuss. "What are you doing, man? You're just going to let this ape," I jerked a thumb towards Kacchan, "walk all over you. Stand up for yourself."
He flushed at my scolding and ran past us towards the main building. A fist suddenly collided with my nose. I was knocked to the ground and I grabbed my nose instinctively. My nose broke instantly but healed just as fast. But not fast enough for no blood to come from my nose. Blood covered my hand as I pulled it away from my face. "What the hell?! Stupid fucking extra, it's not your place to tell him what's wrong with him!"
"What's your deal?! You were just yelling at that guy, now your defending him! Make up your deranged mind!"
"Run that by me again, fucking extra!"
I sighed in exasperation and just walked away from the bad mouthed stranger. I ignored his crude threats and kept walking towards the main building. I saw a bathroom sign not to far away and walked towards it. "A fight on my first day of school. Isn't that a new record?" I muttered to myself as I reached for the door handle.
"Are you bleeding?" A voice asked from behind me.
"No, I spilled ketchup on me." I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. I never looked away from the door or let go of the handle.
"No need to be rude. I was just asking a question."
"Whatever." I said before I pulled the bathroom door open and stepped inside.
Thirty minutes later, I was sitting in a large room with dozens of other teenagers, waiting to take the physical part of the exam. A pro hero or teacher or whatever's voice came out of a speaker. His loud voice explained the way the exam worked for the most part. Except for the final icon. This fact was met with irritation from a blue haired boy with glasses. The boy had the loud voiced man explain the zero point obstacle that the final icon represented.
After the long boring explanation, it was finally time for the physical exam. They split the testers into multiple groups before leading each group to a replica metropolitan area.
I noticed the green haired boy from earlier. He looked like he was lost. I shook my head as I steadied my breathing. I had no room to be distracted, I might've been one of the most experienced hand to hand fighters there but I couldn't slack off. I had worked too hard to get this far.
I concentrated on my breathing and let the world melt around me. I stayed in this state until a loud air horn blared and I ran forward. Seconds later, I came into contact with my first robot, a smaller one point villain. It threw a slow moving punch at me that I easily rolled away from. Then I rushed the robot, the adrenaline pumped through my body making me faster than an Olympic sprinter. The robot had little time to react as I ran towards it at breakneck speed and slugged it right in the face. My arm broke from the impact and I only succeeded in denting it's thick metaI armor.
Realizing I needed a new plan, I retreated a few step back to let my arm fully heal. The bones popped as they were forced back into place. I looked around until I saw a parking meter nearby and ran towards it. I gripped it with both arms and pulled with the strength of eight men thanks to my adrenaline. The concrete easily cracked and the parking meter came out. I was now holding a crude but effective metal bludgeon.
The robot threw another swing at me as I swung the parking meter horizontally. The robots arm went flying from the strength of my blow and it reeled backward. Realizing I could end this, I ran forward and brought the parking meter down on the robot's head. It crumpled like aluminum under the blow and fell to the ground. I grinned in victory as I looked at my defeated foe. "One down, tons more left for me to clobber."
"One minute left!" A voice yelled over the loudspeaker. I grinned as I crumpled the head of another robot. I was in the middle of a small group of testers. We had found what was basically a herd of robots and we were slaughtering them. Until a zero point villain came up, it was taller than most of the four story buildings near us. Everyone immediately started to sprint away, I followed suit and looked over my shoulder to see the green haired boy from earlier, standing there paralyzed with fear. I stopped and turned to grab him so he wouldn't get flattened. I was about to grab him when I saw a girl trapped under the body of a robot. The zero point villain was close to crushing her and I had nothing I could do about it. Suddenly the ground quaked, and the green haired boy shot off towards the enormous robot.
One punch...
One punch. That was all it took for this green haired boy to destroy this titan of a robot. And he was falling to the ground screaming for his life. I sighed and kicked off a nearby building. I caught him midair and landed on the ground as gently as I could. He had tears in his eyes, probably due to the pain. His arm and I assumed both his legs, were purple and swollen. I laid him on the ground and I heard him mutter to himself as he started crawling across the ground with his one good arm. "Just one. If I could only get just one point."
"Times up!" I heard and looked at the green haired boy for his reaction. Tears still fell from his face but these weren't from pain, they were from defeat.
I knealt down in front of him and cleared my throat. He looked up at me with an empty look in his eyes. "What's your name?" I asked. "That was a pretty amazing quirk you just used."
"My name doesn't matter. I failed."
"I don't think you failed."
He looked up at me with wide eyes. "H-How? I didn't get any points."
"What you just did. That was what a hero would have done. Your quirk is questionable, but you definitely have the guts to be a hero."
"Izuku Midoriya. That's my name."
I smiled as I saw his face ease. "Nice to meet you, Midoriya. My name is Kenta Shimura and I look forward to being a fellow pro hero with you."
"Thank you, Shimura-san." He muttered out before passing out.
Recovery Girl, the school nurse, came a few seconds later and took Izuku to her office. She was mumbling a lot about how kids always get themselves into dangerous situations so I decided to keep my mouth shut. Once Izuku was carted to Recovery Girl's office, the girl he rescued earlier came up to me. Her big brown eyes were full of worry. "Is he going to be alright?"
I just chuckled. "I'm sure he'll be fine. He did just take down a four story robot. He's definitely hero material, even if his quirk is self destructive."
"I'm going to give him some of my points." She said out of nowhere.
"You heard what he said at the end there, didn't you?"
"Yeah. If he needs points I'll gladly give him some of mine."
"That's a nice thought... I don't think he'll need them though."
A few days later...
"Sister Gertrude! The letter came! Want to read it with me?"
"Sure, Kenta-kun. Read it to me."
Kenta Shimura,

"Kenta-kun! Stop yelling and get back inside!"
