Disclaimer: This is Kripke's sandbox; I just play in it from time to time, move everything around, and generally leave it a lot sillier and messier than it was when I found it.

A/N: Now, you might be asking yourself: "Why is this called A Snowy Day in California?" Well, kids, here's why: The story takes place in a motel somewhere in California. Penguins live where it's snowy. Snow does not usually happen in California. My mind is a wonderful and frightening place. And one time, when I was quite young and loopy on cold meds, I apparently had a little penguin friend.

A Snowy Day in California

"Hey. You think the penguin will come back?"

Grunt. Eye roll. Papers shuffle. "I don't know, Dean."

All is silent for a moment, the only sound the tapping of Dean's fingers against the headboard.

"Make him come back."

Sam's head is starting to hurt again. Isn't his brother the one who's supposed to be having brain issues here? Then again…

"I have no control over your imaginary penguins, buddy. Sorry."

Swish, swish. Blankets on the floor. Soft, slow footsteps.

"Where are you going?"

Points to the window, where there is clearly no penguin: "Said to meet him outside."

Head desk.
