Gwen was going for her usual walk in the woods to find somewhere to sit and sketch when she noticed that Eva was crying. "So that's where she went." thought Gwen.
"Hey, what's wrong, Eva? !" Gwen asked.
"My older brother Grant died at 6:32 this morning." she sobbed.
"How did he die?"
"He died of Leukemia."
flashback
Eva and Grant, along with their parents, is sitting in the waiting room waiting for the results of Grant's blood work. The doctor calls all of them into his office. "I'm afraid Grant has Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia." (Many months later) "Mrs. Snodgrass, I'm afraid the only way your son will survive is if he gets a bone marrow transplant and a blood transfusion."

"Him being sick was the only reason I auditioned. I figured that if I won the hundred grand, it would be enough money to pay for a bone marrow transplant and a blood transfusion to keep Grant alive." Eva explained between sobs.
"I guess you really miss him, huh Eva."
"Yeah. I loved my brother. We would play hockey together. He was the only one who could beat me at it."
A few minutes later, Duncan came by. "Hey Eva why did you run off like that when you got that text? You made us lose the challenge!" He was about to chew her out, but then noticed that she had been bawling her amber eyes out.
Then he turned to Gwen and asked "What's with Eva?"
Gwen whispered into Duncan's ear everything that Eva had told her. "Holy crap I'm so sorry Eva."
