Prompt :- Wanted You More – Lady Antebellum

It had been two months and it still killed him to see them together. He was stronger now than he once was though, he could deal with it. He no longer needed her there when he'd been on a rough case, didn't need the physical contact from her or her voice comforting him after a nightmare. He could do it on his own, he had before her and he can again. He knew he should've seen it – he was a profiler after all and yet he ignored the signs. He'd come to the conclusion that he just wanted her more than she did him. Although, deep down he'd known it wouldn't last – a girl like her with a guy like him, they had ended before they'd even begun.
He sat, glass of brandy in hand, and recalled when he had found out – exactly two months today. He'd gone to LA to surprise her for their year anniversary. He'd brought her a rather large bouquet of her favourite flowers, a box of chocolates and a necklace as a permanent reminder of their first year together. It'd been difficult sometimes but they did well and they were happy. He was anyway. Lila had given him a key to her apartment so he let himself in and placed his gifts down on the countertop assuming she was in the shower. It wasn't long before he heard her voice and found himself walking towards it. A man, a fellow actor on her new film was in her bed making her scream the way Spencer used to make her do. Glued to the spot, he couldn't help but watch in horror and not a moment later they noticed. She breathed his name in shock as he raced out of there – not fast enough though as she caught up with him, her bed sheet the only thing covering her naked body. The blonde apologised profusely and begged for a chance to explain but he didn't give her a chance, leaving her alone with these words: "We spent nights just talking and making plans together, I wore my heart on my sleeve for you, loved you properly. I guess I was just too blind to see it – you not returning the love I gave to you. Guess I just wanted you a whole lot more than you did me."
It had been the longest relationship Spencer had ever had and the image of his ex in bed with another guy still haunted his brain. No longer did he believe in love, realising that there is no such thing as 'love', that it's just some chemicals that make us feel like that. Never would he be so naïve again he'd promised himself. He'd wasted too much time on Lila Archer; he refused to waste anymore on her. As of tomorrow he'd move on and forget about her. No longer did he want her anyway.
Finishing off his glass of brandy, he poured another one and turned on the tv. There she was, with her actor boyfriend, the one who's proposal she'd just accepted. That was what he needed to get closure – he could finally move on.
