Time for our new episode! Just a small note; this chapter will be rated T for now, but there is small mentions of blood and death and suicide. It definitely will change to M rated later on. If you ever want it to change sooner than I plan for it to be, feel free to tell me. Now, on that note, let's begin.
Chapter One: Life Lost
Steady footsteps echoed throughout the hall of the castle. The footsteps of someone walking. Everybody was asleep. Everybody but one person.
Up the stairs. That's where they were headed.
They looked out the window of the tall tower they were in. They could see the courtyard and the lush green fields. But those didn't matter to them.
They hopped onto the windowsill, sitting on the edge. Then they stood.
The distance between them and the ground was great. Enough to kill anybody who fell. It would be a miracle if anybody survived a fall like that.
They sighed. This was it.
And so... They took a step forwards.
The sound of their body hitting the ground shifted one person in their sleep.
The person woke with drowsy eyes. They glanced at the clock. One o'clock. No need to be awake at this hour. They slowly drifted back to sleep, not knowing a life had been lost.
oOo
Dedede awoke that morning to a rattling sound coming from a nearby drawer.
"Ack!"
The mouse looked at him in fear through her red sunglasses, jumping back from the drawer as he cried out.
There was a pregnant silence between the two as the mouse stepped back slowly. She was holding a small pouch in her paws.
"What do you think you're doing?" Dedede hissed slowly and threateningly, getting out of bed.
The mouse's steps quickened slightly.
"Listen... I-I don't wanna cause any trouble..."
Dedede lunged forwards before she got a chance to move, lifting her up by her scarf. She clawed at his hand helplessly, making a small squeaking noise in surprise.
"Put the pouch down... Now." He growled, his beak up against her snout, making sure she was looking into his eyes.
She nodded quickly as Dedede pulled her scarf tighter. "S-sure thing... Sure thing, doc."
She held out the pouch, seemingly about to drop it, when a flying saucer suddenly flew in through the window and grabbed the pouch.
"Go Doc!" Spinni cheered as the other mouse flew out the door. Dedede dropped her, racing out to catch the saucer.
The pouch contained a family heirloom; he wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he lost it. It was the only object he had that proved he had a family.
When he entered the courtyard however, he stopped his chase. Partially because Doc had already flown out the gates, but also because of the sight that lay before him. The blood covered, horrid sight.
"... N-no..."
