Kazuo poked his head into Izanami's apartment, listening for any sound of life from within. When he didn't hear anything, he called her name, just in case. Upon not receiving an answer, he backed out from the doorway, closing it behind him. Where could she be? He had already checked the usual places she went to when she had nothing better to do. Kazuo moved on, continuing his search.
After a while, he found himself drawn to the forest that surrounded his city. He walked under the trees, the sunlight falling on him in patches. Suddenly, he heard a sound. Not recognizing it at first, he put a hand to his kunai pouch incase it was an enemy. But then he recognized it as the sound of sobs. He looked around a tree into a clearing and his heart skipped a beat when he saw the source of the sobs.
Izanami sat in the middle of the clearing, surrounded by the wild flowers that grew there. Her white hair glowed and you could almost believe it was an angel sitting there, except that she was wearing all black and her face was pressed against her legs as her body was racked with sobs. Kazuo walked towards her and the grass rustled. Izanami looked up and quickly tried to wipe her tears away like nothing was wrong. He sat down next to her and gently grabbed her head, pushing it until it hit his chest.
He ran his fingers through her hair and whispered to her that is was okay, that you could cry every once in a while, that it was okay to show weakness. It was quiet for a moment as Izanami stared up at him before tears welled up in her eyes once more and she burrowed her face into her chest, quickly soaking his vest. He combed her hair with his hands some more before saying that next time she wanted to cry, to come to him instead of crying alone. She nodded; continuing to cry and he spoke no more, just offered her silent condolence.
