Lisbon turned off the bathroom light, quietly padded to bed, turned off the bedside lamp.

Lifting the covers, she climbed in, pulling the cool cotton sheets to her chin, then grabbed the fluffy comforter, letting it settle over her with pleasant heaviness. She squirmed and shifted a little until she found a comfy position.

Just as sleep began to pull her under, a low growl vibrating against her neck snapped her awake, her eyes wide in the dark.

"Really? Pajamas, again?" The sleepy voice behind her was annoyed, whiny. "Honestly, woman, after all this time, why do you still bother?"
