A/N Hello everyone! This is my first real fanfic, so I hope it's not hideous. I don't usually write in this style, but I thought it was fitting. Also, I do NOT hate Elwing. I just think she may not have been the best mother. That's all for me this time, please favourite & review. I accept constructive criticism, but please don't flame. If you do flame, I will assume that you are a balrog and throw you into The Void with your master.

Disclaimer: Sadly, I don not own anything.

Parents

She waited as the ship sailed into the harbour. She waited as the passengers unboarded the ship. She waited as he greeted his beloved Celebrían, and friends of long ago. She waited as he greeted Erenion Gil-Galad, his lord and mentor. And when all but she had greeted him, she stepped forth.

He looked upon her with puzzlement in his eyes, and when he spoke his voice was laced with curiosity.

- Who are you, pray tell? Although I have lived long and met many, I always remember the faces of whom I meet. Yet yours I do not recognise.

Tears stung her eyes as she answered him.

- It should not surprise me, for you were but a child when I last saw you. Yet it hurts that you do not remember me, not even a memory of a memory. Long have I waited for you, for you are preciouses to me. I would have thought I at least made an impression upon you.

A small frown settled on his brow.

- I do not understand. What do you mean?

She gave him a small, but nervous, smile.

- I am Elwing, Elrond. I am your mother.

Long he then stood silent, and when he spoke, it was with conviction in his voice.

- You claim to be my mother, yet to me you are a stranger. My parent by birth you may be, yet not my parent by heart. In my long years I have named three my parents, but you are not one of them.

She fell then to her knees, and long she wept. The tears that stained her cheeks melded with the sea, and her cries echoed amongst the gulls. She cried for the sons she had lost, one to death, and one to rejection.

A/N Hello again. Wasn't too bad, was it? I hope not. I kinda like the ending. That's for me this time, I hope you liked it.
