Lexi sees the world in colour. It's a bright, luscious - and sometimes, messy - paint palette, with every shade she can imagine fitted into place somewhere, like placing the last piece of a puzzle into the final picture. She sees people as colours too - vibrant plums, soft emeralds, deep magentas, different colours for every single person in her life.
Her son is a light blue. Blue like the sky, or a running stream. Clear, calming, peaceful.
Her brother is black. Black for formality, anger, power, unreadability. Black for grief too - grief for her human state, grief for Lyzera, his beloved wife (not that he will ever admit it when she asks, but she can tell. She's still his sister, after all.)
Benny Sherwood, forever appearing through her front door to wish her family well, is a sunny yellow. Intelligent, cheerful, with seemingly unlimited energy, he bounces off the walls of her kitchen, babbling excitedly about his new developments in the medical world, and how much he loves study for his degree, and how wonderful it feels to save lives so many times in a day and know that he made the world a little bit more of a better place for someone. His enthusiasm is almost infectious; it has Lexi beaming along with him merely three seconds after he slopes into her house, not needing an invitation to enter.
And then, there's Tom. A colour like no other. The brightest colour of them all. The Tom Colour, as she's come to call it. The perfect mix of the intensity of red, the joy of orange, the safety of olive green, and the perfection of white. Tom makes her happy, joyful, safe, peaceful (although not always; their tempers aren't exactly the longest in the world), alive, strong, brave, in love...He makes her feel at home.
That's what Tom's colour is. Tom is the colour of home.
So...That happened :)
