A/N: Inspired by Deansleather's Supernatural fanfic Sleeping Positions 101 on AO3. That's about humans, but it got me thinking. . .

"Okay, Bullet, time for bed."

The German shepherd perked up at his person's, Danny Williams, words. He leaped on the bed and made himself comfortable while Danny got ready for bed. Danny moved to get into the bed but stopped, looking at the large dog sprawled in exact center of the bed, front and back legs both stretched out so he reached almost from one side to the other. "Where am I supposed to sleep?" Danny demaded. Bullet just woofed softly in reply.

Danny shoved at Bullet's legs, finally managing to clear enough space for him to fit, barely, as long as he was on his side. Danny settled in uncomfortably. "Just don't kick me out of bed," he warned the dog.

Really, it should have come as no surprise that exactly that happened. Danny woke what seemed like just a few minutes after he closed his eyes to the sensation of falling. He made a futile grab for the edge of the bed, but it was no use. Danny went crashing to the floor, landing in an ungainly heap. "Dammit, Bullet, didn't anyone teach you to share?"

The dog's big head appeared over the side of the bed, looking down at Danny. "Woof?" the dog said.

Danny went around to the other side and patted it invitingly. "Come on, Bullet, come here." After quite a bit of coaxing, the dog reluctantly made his way to the other side of the bed and curled up. Danny side in relief. Finally, he had enough room.

Danny got up to go to the bathroom a few hours later. He came back to bed to find Bullet had moved, lying on Danny's side of the bed with his head on the pillow, tucked in just like a furry human. Danny had to admit the sight was adorable, but it didn't change the fact that the dog was on his side of the bed. Danny nudged him. Bullet shifted slightly, but otherwise didn't move. Danny shoved harder. "Come on, you big lug, move!" No dice.

Finally, Danny gave up and moved to the other side of the bed, sliding under the covers and getting comfortable before falling back to sleep.

The next time Danny woke, it was to the sensation of something furry in his face. He opened his eyes to find Bullet lying next to him, head towards the foot of the bed, tail in Danny's face. "Thanks a lot, Bullet," Danny grumbled. "I've always wanted to wake up with a dog butt in my face." Bullet let out a snore.

Danny had had enough. He walked over to Bullet's bed in the corner. "Bullet, come!" The dog ignored him. Danny went back to the bed and pushed at Bullet's rear, finally getting him to stand. "Come on, Bullet!" The dog just stared at him and sat down. Well, at least he wasn't lying down any more. That was progress, Danny supposed.

Danny tugged at Bullet's collar. "Come on." Finally, finally, Bullet got off the bed and followed Danny to the dog bed. He lay down and looked mournfully up at Danny. "Don't give me that look. You're staying there, and that's final." Bullet huffed and settled down with his head on his paws.

Danny went back to his bed. Yes, his bed, not Bullet's. He stretched out in the middle of the bed, taking up as much space as possible. Ah, yes, much better. Satisfied, he went back to sleep.

When the alarm went off, Danny woke to find himself once again clinging to the side of the bed, Bullet stretched out next to him, crowding Danny. Ah, well. Danny supposed he was just going to have to get used it.

A/N: Yes, I've experienced most of these, though the dogs haven't kicked up entirely out of bed-yet, and only because my husband managed to grab the side of the bed in time. :)

A/N: Yes, there will be a Sleeps with Cats with Steve, Ninja, and NJ, which is why Selkie isn't in this one.
