A/N: So just so you know Ash is a witch from Salem whose powers come from her Mother's side.

This story is set before the movie.

I don't own anything you recognize.

Seven years ago…

"You notice anything different about Ash?" Caleb asked, as he climbed up the tree to sit beside the rest of us on our favourite limb overlooking the small creek at the back of he's street. Tyler and Pogue shook their heads and I just shrugged, not sure how to answer his question. Sure, id noticed things about Ash lately. Like the way her eyes kinda sparkle when she laughs and how good her legs look in shorts. But there's no way I'm confessing those things to Caleb. He'd tell Ash and they'd all laugh their butts off.

"No." I replied not looking at my brothers in fear they'd be able to tell I was lying.

"I heard Mum talking to Ash's Mum the other day, saying we'd all would start noticing Ash differently real soon. She said Ash was turning into a beauty and things between the five of us would change," Caleb said a touch of concern in his eyes. I couldn't look at him. Instead, I kept my eyes fixed on the creek.

"I wouldn't worry about it. Ash is Ash. Sure, she's always been pretty, I guess but that's not what's important. She can climb a tree faster than any of us, she baits her own hook, and she can fill up water balloons like a pro and she shares the same secret as us." Pogue said.

We've known Ash all our lives, her family had moved to Ipswich from Salem when she was born. But we've always kept our covenants secret from her until a few months ago, when we discovered Ash and her Mother were witches. Unlike our powers Ash's first taste came unexpectedly when she was ready for them, we'd seen her throw a vase across the room without touching it when she had gotten angry over something I'd said about her hair. Her Mother tried to cover it up but after speaking with our families we had told her parents and they had in return told us their secrets.

Caleb smiled and nodded. "You're right. Who cares that she's got hair like some kind of fairy princess? She is Ash. Speaking of water balloons, could you two please stop sneaking out and throwing them at cars right outside my house at night. My parents are going to catch you one of these days and I won't be able to get you out of trouble." Caleb said looking at me.

I grinned, thinking about Ash covering her mouth to silence her giggles last night when we snuck down here to fill up balloons. That girl sure loved to break the rules. Almost as much as I did.

"I heard my name. You guys better not still be making fun of me about this stupid bra mums making me wear. I've had it with the jokes. I'll break your noses if it doesn't stop." Ash's voice startled me. She was standing at the bottom of the tree with a bucket of crickets in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. "Are we going to fish or do you all rather just down at me like I've grown another head?"
