Percy Jackson has never said a word to anyone since he had moved here. That was 3 months ago.
Maybe thats what intrigued Annnabeth about him..maybe not.
And its not like she knows anything about him. All she knows is that he doesnt talk to anyone. Even teachers. But he does smoke at the back of the school during lunch with one of her friends, Thalia. Strange isn't it? But she accepts it moving on with her life like a normal person. But there are moments when she glances at them during lunch because they sit outside. She highly doubts they even talk while smoking. Thalia always comes back to sit with them contiuing on as if nothing happened. Her friends dont point it out either. Piper,Jason, Hazel, Grover, and Frank know they wont get an straight answer. But Annabeth cant let it go for a strange reason. She knows Thalia is on her way back to the table.
She turns her head and follows Percy's movements. She watches as he takes a long drag the smoke coming out in a spiril. She watches as he gracefully swipes it from his mouth, throws it to the ground, and stomps on it with his black converses. He bits his lip then he turns towards Annabeth's direction. He must've felt her gaze. She doesn't back down and niether does he. Finnaly, he gives her a coy smirk, a wink and turns to go back into the school, his presence basiclly oozing through her mind. She blinks before turning back to her table, trying to join in on the too far gone conversation. Thalia gives a wierd look. She smiles in response and contiues trying to understand the converstaion.
Unfortantly, her mind had been plauged. People like Percy only brought mischeif. Annabeth didn't think she wanted that. Thoughts of him winking and smoking filled her mind all day. She was agitated and wanted to get home so she could take a shower and rinse off her shame. Who wants to smoke anyway?! It disgusting... Lets not forget you could get lung cancer! Like what the freak? She wishes Thalia would listen to her but she does't. Of course doesn't. Oh well. Guess she'll just talk to her again about it.
Annabeth doesn't know what Intrigues her about Percy Jackson. Maybe its his long dark curls that hang over his eyes, or his full cherry lips. Maybe it was his large sea green eyes. Or maybe its his calmness at all times. Maybe its just because he won't talk. Maybe beacuse she wants to know what his voice sounds like. Probely raspy from smoking. She imagined that would be a turn on. Maybe its better if he didn't like.. talk..at least to her. And the sad part was.. He was hot, no denying, but...no. She couldn't like him if he didnt talk. She sighed as she copied down math notes. She prays Percy Jackson would not be the death of her.
"You shouldn't smoke" Annabeth said the second Thalia walked over to her as the bell rang for dissmissal. Thalia shrugged.
"Its fun. But it'd be better if the boy talked" she muttered. Percy. Annabeth decides not to dwell on the fact that her mind immediantly went to him.
"Ok Thalia. When your hacking up mothballs and sh*t, dont come to me" she said.
Thalia laughed as Annabeth picked up her bike from the rack. She pulled it untill they were on the sidewalk. She hopped on going slowly so she could match Thalia's pace. Annabeth loved riding her bike. She loved how the breeze flew through her honey curls. She loved how it always gave her a thrill. But maybe, most of all, she loved how easy it was to escape the claws of her overbearing parents.
She loved them, but they could be... are annoyIng. They always wanted her to be the best, which she appreciates but she doesnt want to be a doctor like her folks. She wants to be an architect. Build things. Make them last unlike her realtionship with her parents. She inwardly sighed and joined Thalia with friendly bickering as usual. They were bestfriends afterall.
They reached her house and said goodbye to each other as Thalia walked back to her own home. Only down the street. Annabeth sighed as she walked into her house. Time to face the beast.
Annabeth walked back out and hopped on her bike. Neither of her parents were home and she didn't want to stay home alone(haha) so after eating whatever she could find and rushing through her homework she left. She zipped down the street her zipped grey hoodie protecting her. It was a little chilly considering it was 5:00. Almost evening. But the Sun was still out. She decided to stop near a large brown house. She noticed children were playing there. She watched them with a smile on her face. Their ball made it's way towards her. They ran towards her as she picked it up.
"Sorry missy!" the little boy exclaimed with big brown eyes. The girl nudged him. Her black hair was in a ponytail.
"I told you not to kick that hard Richie!" She exclaimed. The boy.. Richie smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry Maggie. May we have our ball back please" he asked hopefully tugging on his also black hair. Maggie turned towards Annabeth her blue eyes pleading. Jesus! It wasnt like Annabeth was going to take it away! She let out a lagh before placing the ball in Richie's hand.
"There you go. Be careful guys" she called as they ran away yelling thank yous. She glanced towards the brown house. The lights were on.
There was also a tall figure watching her. She felt chills run through her. It started its way towords her. She knew she should've left but something made her stay rooted to the ground. As the figure, he, got closer she noticed he was smoking. Percy. He took a drag before stopping in front of her.
" You stalking me Chase?"he said. She felt her breath hitch. Holy frig. He's talking. To her. Of all people. It wasn't till later that she realized she hadnt answered. And he was teasing.
"What? No! I was just watching those kids play.." She answered. His eyebrows rose, mirth in his eyes.
"So.. Your stalking my siblings? Thats not wierd at all." He contiued. She gaped at him as he took another drag. He laughed at her expression before stomping on the cigerate. She crinckled her nose at the smell of smoke but inwardly melted at his laugh.
"Arsehole" she muttered. He stood straight scraching his neck.
"Just playing Annabeth" he said rolling her name on his tounge. She narrowed her eyes at him.
"How do you know my name?" She said. He moved closer.
"Thalia told me" he said casually. Like this whole conversation was normal.
How? He talks to no one for months. Then he decides to talk to Annabeth. Not normal.
"Right. Y'know, smoking can give you lung cancer" she blurts because she doesnt know what else to say. His eyebrows shoot up into his curly locks and his sea green eyes widen. She decide to ignore how pretty they look in the now coming moonlight.
"Thank you Annabeth for that unknown information" he deadpans his voice deep. Then she laughs And he watches her in confusion and maybe.. a little awe.
"Ok. I gotta go. Night Percy" she says hopping on her bike. Percy shakes his head, his curls flying. He sends her a wide grin before taking out another cigerate.
"Night Annabeth" he says. She smiles and pedals away throwing her bike on the lawn before running inside. Her parents welcome her before attacking her about were she's been.
She lies. She says Thalia's house. She couldve told the truth. But she didn't.
Talking to Percy Jackson felt like it should be a secret.
Annabeth falls asleep with a smile.
Hope you liked it! I got this idea from Archive of our Own. It was used for 2 charecters in IT 2017. I changed alot. Clearly.. But yeah.
