Hair Gel
Inspired by the action of rubbing Jesse's adorable little head.
Author's Note: This is just a really stupid thing I came up with in like a half and hour while reading a story where Steve ruffled Jesse's hair, and I thought "What if he had hair gel in?". Thus, I decided to write a short fic about it. It takes place around season 3, so Jesse's still kinda new and trying to fit in, just so you all know. I hope you all like it!
Dr. Jesse Travis walked through the hallways of Community General Hospital with his head lifted high and a smile on his face. His brisk pace caused his white lab coat to lightly flow behind him, giving him a slight "movie-star" aura. The nurses he passed by gave him slightly questioning looks that quickly turned into smiles. Big ones. Some were even accompanied with a little blushing. Jesse knew it was because of what he did earlier that morning, and he decided he should really do it more often. But his thoughts were cut short as he ran into Mark.
"Hey Jess," Mark said with a smile, surprised to see his colleague in such a good mood. But there was something else that was different. "Did you get a hair cut?" he guessed. Jesse just merely shook his head no, the smile still on his face. Unable to detect exactly what was different, Mark brushed it off. They walked silently for a while before the two ran into Amanda.
"Morning, Amanda!" Mark greeted, which Jesse repeated with his big grin. Amanda, however, frowned and squinted at her younger friend. Mark realized that Amanda also noticed the difference about the doctor. "You think something's different, too?" It was more of a statement than a question.
"Hair gel. Medium hold." she declared with a smug grin. She knew she had hit the mark when Jesse's grin widened. Before she was able to say anything else, Steve walked into corridor from the doctor's lounge.
"Medium what?" he asked, having over-heard only part of the conversation.
"Oh, nothing." Jesse said, a sly grin on his face. Both Mark and Amanda could guess he was waiting to see if Steve could tell the difference. Unfortunately for Jesse, he did.
"Hair's looking a little shaggy today, Jess." He said as he reached out and ruffled his friend's hair. But within a few milliseconds, he pulled his hand away with a disgusted look on his face. "Jess! Forget to take a shower this morning?"
"It's hair gel, Steve!" Jesse cried in defense, his own hands flying to his hair, knowing his look was ruined. Mark and Amanda tried to hold in their snickers as best they could, but Steve's grossed-out expression combined with Jesse's look of terror made them unable to contain their laughter. Knowing he wouldn't be able to fix his hair without a mirror, Jesse quickly made his way to the doctor's lounge.
"At least I fixed it for you now!" Steve called after him as he wiped his hand on his pants.
"Coming from a guy who's hair used to glow in the dark..." Jesse muttered under his breath. With a depressed sigh to himself, Jesse knew that as long as Steve was around, he wouldn't be able to wear hair gel for a long while.
