Her Greatest Fear.
Usagi Small Lady Serenity Chiba loved her parents. She knew they loved her back, and in this she rejoiced... but it didn't mean she never worried.
Her one greatest fear was that they would stop loving her, forget about her... Hell, even reject her.
This was why she would do everything to cover up her mistakes, to hide her flaws from them. She had caught on pretty fast that they wanted her to be a strong girl, one that can be depended upon, not one who always depends upon them. She had learnt to bite back her tears when others were being mean, to tidy up her own messes, to keep quiet about her failures. She would go as far as to regularly try and make her parents treats and special gifts on a regular basis, just to show them how grateful she was for their love.
But then the people of the black moon had attacked.
She had heard numerous stories of the battles her mother and her soldiers had fought against such enemies, but that had been the first time she had realized the difference between stories and fairytales, between fact and fiction, history and dreams. She used to wonder where her father would conjure up with these fantastical stories, whether the silver crystal was really as powerful as everyone seemed to make out. When she asked him, the king would smile knowingly and a soft and distant look would come across his eyes as he said that yes, the silver crystal was that powerful, and all he had said was true, he had been there to see it.
And now here she was, in the past, at the very place and time all these stories were said to have taken place, trying to fix what had to be her biggest mistake yet. There she stood trying to save her parents by confronting them.
Her mother seemed unrecognisable. Was that flustered teenager really the elegant Queen Serenity? And that man with her, it couldn't be... But yes, it was. Mamoru Chiba was the spitting image of King Endymion when he decided to trade his official suit for something more comfortable.
Yet she couldn't see it in his eyes. She didn't see the proud spark that had always said "You are my little daddy's girl and I love you". No. This Mamoru's eyes were all that Usagi Tsukino's.
Well that didn't matter now, did it? She would just have to ask this Usagi for the crystal and be gone back to her real mom and dad. This was just another mess she was going to clean up. She couldn't allow herself to cry just because they didn't recognize her, or because her daddy was only giving his love to that other Usagi.
But what if it took longer? What if they had hidden the crystal? What if she had to stay here, suffering her parents without their love?
Usagi Small Lady Serenity Chiba was a resourceful girl. It didn't take her long to come up with an idea.
Her mother would always be pleased when noticing how her daughter was following in her footsteps. She'd just have to do her best to be like this Usagi.
As for her father... A smile crept onto her face.
Well, if she managed to make him her boyfriend, he'd call her his girl again, wouldn't he?
Fin.
