On Again Tonight

Elliot was sitting up in his bed. He was looking at a picture of him and Olivia. He looked over at the nightstand at the phone and picked it up. He dialed her phone number and it began to ring.

Olivia shot up from her bed and looked at the phone. She saw what time it was and she knew it had to be Elliot. She didn't want to talk to him but something told her to pick it up.

I'm glad you picked up the phone.
Yeah, I know that we both agreed,
We'd leave each other alone.
We're just wastin' our time,
We know it ain't right.
There's no goin' back, but havin' said that:

I wish you would come over,
An' drink my best bottle of wine.

The next day at the office Olivia was sitting at her desk as Elliot walked in. He looked at her without her looking up at him and he smiled to himself.

I don't expect things to change.
We've got to get on with our lives.
Space is a beautiful thing,
When you need some room.
I don't know about you, but I'm lonely right now:
I'm just thinkin' out loud.

At the end of the day Elliot walked out and Olivia ran after him. They went back to his place and spent the night there. He made dinner for the two of them and they drank a bottle of wine. They went to bed and made passionate love. Later that night he held her close as they lie in his bed.

Olivia picked up the phone the next night and called him. He came over and they had dinner, drank wine, and made love. They knew that they were soul mates, but they also knew that it was going to end badly because they were partners. It would always have to be on again, off again with them. They couldn't be together at work but they could be together at night.
