Author Note: Yes, I did take the idea for this from Inuyasha. But the execution is different. I think that even though Fairy Tail is really popular, there are not nearly enough fanfiction stories about it. At this point I trying to write a little something for all of the manga I read. This is among those stories. R & R

Lucy POV

Drip Drip

I looked over at the shivering mage. He held his head high as he attempted to ignore the barrage of rain. It looked like he was successful.

But the shaking told me otherwise.

We were returning from a job not to far from the guild when the rain started. Happy was scouting ahead for some kind of shelter and we were walking as quickly as we could through the downpour. I had an umbrella, but Natsu just let himself get wet.

"Natsu," I inched closer to him, "are you ok?"

"Y-yeah," He stuttered, "of c-c-course."

I shook my head and glanced up at my umbrella. It was a rather useless object since it could only protect one of us. I offered it to Natsu, but he wouldn't take it. I ended up dropping it on his head and walking away.

When I glanced back, he was slowly following me and drying his clothes.

It was ironic that the more wet I became they dryer he was. But I didn't mind, he was worth it. I didn't want him to get sick and that was a good enough excuse in my mind. It's not like I cared that he was cold or anything.

Also, it is important to keep fire mages out of extended periods of rain because it makes them vulnerable.

I continued to try to find logic in what I had done while I scanned the sky for Happy. He should have been back by then.

Then the rain suddenly stopped. I looked up to find… my umbrella.

Natsu had walked up behind me while I was searching and was holding it there.

"Oh no" I said and turned around, "you need that. You won't catch a cold on my watch." I found myself face to face with Natsu. He grinned.

"We could share it."

I fought a flush as I nodded. Amazingly, we both fit under that tiny umbrella; I guess it wasn't so useless after all.
