Chapter one: Window's Unlocked
Candice watched with tried eyes as the young intern scribbled frantically across a notepad wearing an annoyed frown. The intern in question was a perfectionist and ought to get more sleep then the seven hours she had been getting, but Candice wasn't about to say anything. Her roommate at the college wouldn't listen anyway, plus it wasn't her place to do anything. So wrapping her robe tightly around herself she left to return to her dorm.
Hermione Granger bit her tongue as she turned over a bottle of ink, her notepad dripping on the fine upholstery of her favorite chair. Swearing at a whisper she dropped the notepad in the trash knowing it couldn't be salvaged. As her eyes caught sight of the alarm clock she groaned. Sitting up and flicking it off just as the alarm began bleeping.
"Ugh... time for a nap, Crooshanks get off that..." Hermione winced as she stood stepping on something. She carefully made it over the mounds of paperwork and to the window where Crooshanks lay curled up. Glaring at her cat she leaned her head out and saw the offending book caught in the bushes. Thankful it hadn't landed in the mud she reached for her cloak by the door, slipping it on she pulled her door closed with a soft click.
As she passed the cameras she kept her hood up since it was past curfew, the deep blue making her almost invisible in the dark. She approached the keypad and quickly punched in several buttons by memory. The door beeped signaling it was unlocked. Taking a wad of handkerchief out of her cloak pocket she propped the door open slightly.
Wand at her side she muttered lumos as she knelt under the bushes searching for the blue leather bound spell book. She would have used a simple accio but feared she might rip the cover on the thorn filled rose bush. Hermione froze as she felt a hand on her shoulder, a hand covered her mouth as she shrieked. A blonde blur and a muttered stupefy were all she could comprehend before darkness.
