Authors notes: Yes, another High School AU. But honestly, I love Highschool scenarios for SPN since they never really had a proper life.
Dean, the popular, yet quiet lad walked along the school halls deep in thought. He blocked out everyone else around him that were cheering because of yesterdays football match Dean had won for them, and instead tried to focus on a test he was studying for. His Father would kill him if he didn't pass. And since Dean wasn't the brightest of persons, he had to study now.. well, a day before the test.
A hand suddenly gripped his shoulder and he swivelled around instinctively, a hand raising from instinct. But he lowered his clenched fist and smiled when he saw his best friend, Castiel Novak, there and not someone trying to kill him. "Hey, Cas."
Castiel brushed off the fact that Dean felt the need to protect himself. It's his Father again, isn't it?, he thought with a shake of his head. But he smiled brightly back to him and walked besides him, making their way to the cafeteria. "Hello, Dean. Good lesson?"
"Yeah." He smirked as he thought back to the lesson. "The English teacher's pretty hot."
Castiel rolled his eyes, obviously used to this behaviour from Dean. "Please don't tell me you have a thing for Mr Love?"
Dean stopped walking, a shocked expression appearing on his face. "Ms Love, Cas! She's a chick!" Cas started laughing at his shocked expression and Dean lightly hit him on the arm. "Shut up." But he smiled at the rare laugh only he got to hear from Cas and he flung an arm around his shoulders. "What about your lesson?"
"It was brilliant, Dean!" He face lit up with excitement, and Dean's smile grew. "I had science, and we were mixing chemicals. Did you know that if you mix c-"
"Okay, okay. Enough with the science crap I don't understand." Dean chuckled and Cas looked down, embarrassed slightly and thinking he had hurt the older friend. "Cas? Cas, come on, I was kidding. It's fine." He sighed and rubbed his shoulder a little. Damn guy was so sensitive. "I just don't understand, is all. I'm not mad." He reassured him, speaking softly. Their behaviour normally drew weird looks from other students, but Dean ignored them and Cas never seemed to notice either. They did seem to have a more profound bond then other friends.
Cas looks back up, his bright Tardis blue eyes looked confused, but then he nodded, his small smile back. "Okay. Sorry, Dean."
"Cas, you don't have to be sorry for anything." Dean smiled and nudged him gently in the side.
There was silence between them as they walked, but again, Cas spoke up.
"I found a chemical mixture that matches your eyes." He told him, his voice quiet.
Dean looked over to him, surprised a little. He smiled and carried on walking with his best friend.
They were quite an odd match; the popular kid with the nerdy kid. Trouble maker and quiet one. But, as odd as they were, they were perfect.
A/N: Continue, or..? I know the first chapter is pretty short, but I though I should post a little before I decide if I continue. Please review and tell me what you think. c:
