Unseeing Eyes
Disclaimer: I unfortunately do not own Harry Potter.
Ginny POV at Bill and Fleur's wedding.
I saw him sitting their amongst all of the people. His eyes looked dead to me, as if the approaching and inevitable war had literally sucked the life out of him. Seeing him like that a ripped my heart out. Oh yes, he had of course kept up small talk with his neighbors, commenting on the nice weather and the turnout of people, but it was fake. I knew he was afraid of seeing me, afraid I would confront him and try to convince to let me go with him to destroy the horcruxes. His fears were justified because upon seeing his self induced comatose I had my decision made whether Harry liked it or not.
I approached him after the ceremonies just when he was attempting to leave. My arm went through the crook of his and I steered him to the woods. We walked in silence for awhile before my nerve progressed enough to confront him. "Harry." He responded with an overly polite yes. His eyes still seemed to be unseeing. "Why are you doing this to your self?" I cut him off before he could start." Don't say you aren't either. Why distance yourself from those who care for you? Why from me? Your eyes, Harry, your eyes they're dead."
He studied me pensively throughout the whole thing his eyes shaking slightly. "I explained before Ginny, I can't have you hurt at all by this war. If Voldemort--" "Harry! It already is hurting me! Far worse than any physical harm Voldemort can do to, is what he has caused you to do to me! He has already hurt me! There is no more he can do to me! He has taken you away from me!" I, caught be this wave of passion kissed Harry.
Harry almost jumped when I did that, like I had electrified him. My kiss was hard, intense, and full of the anger and passion I had held in. Harry as though melting from a cold stupor warmed by my inner fire wrapped his arms around me and kissed me back. It tasted of life.
I knew from that moment on Harry's eyes were alive.
We would win the war.
