Another original Thomas story by Samantha613, this time it's "Percy's New Words" Enjoy and comment.
Percy has trouble saying new words, so it's up to James to help him see it's really a good thing.
Percy was interested in saying new words that everyone else was saying.
"I really want to say some fancy new words. If only I could know and say how they sound."
All the other engines were asleep, except James. Percy looked at him and asked him a question.
"Hey, James, could you help me say some new words?" asked Percy.
"I guess I could help you with saying how new words sound. Yes, I will help, Percy.", said James.
"You have to hear a new word and say every letter and sound in the word to pronounce it right. That's all there is to it", James said to Percy.
"I like how that sounds. I'll try it, James.", said Percy.
"Alright, Percy..", James said before he went to sleep.
Percy felt pleased with what James said, and fell asleep to the sound of James's gentle breathing.
The next day, all the engines were working hard.
Percy wanted to listen to any new words that everyone was saying.
Gordon came by, pulling the Express
"This Express is magnificent!" boomed Gordon proudly.
Percy listened carefully to what Gordon said and thought to himself about how to say the word 'magnificent'.
"Mag...nif...e...cent", said Percy.
Percy couldn't say the word right. and felt down with himself.
"How can I say new words when I can't say any correctly?", Percy said sadly.
Percy went to see James about his problem.
"James, I can't seem to say new words right. I tried to say a new word, but it didn't sound
right, like how others say it.", Percy said.
"Percy, it's okay if you can't pronounce new words. There are some words that are difficult to say and take some time to learn. However, if you practice saying it enough, you'll get to see how a new word really sounds.", James said.
Percy listened to what James said. He didn't have to get it right the first time, he would have to practice saying the new word and say it in easier words.
"Thanks for the advice, James. I'm going to try to find out what new words sounds like and take time to practice how they're spelled and sound like to say the new word.", Percy said.
During that day, Percy listened to how new words sounded like and practiced saying how they were said.
In a couple of days, Percy got the hang of saying some new words to say.
