Greatest Blessing, Greatest Curse
People say my mind is like a river:
Rushing, endless power,
But a power put to no use at all,
Doing nothing but reflecting the empty sky above.
I can see why they say so, I always do.
For all of its power, though, it carries its curse.
Like the river it so strongly imitates, I can never stop it,
No matter how much I wish I could.
I know all too well what I can do.
I know just as well what I cannot.
It is this that makes me just lay back and enjoy the day,
Staring at the clouds, or playing my games.
People say my mind's a blessing,
One that would put me above my peers, if I would only try.
And yet, I envy those who know no limits.
That seems like the greater blessing, to me.
