"I am not in love with her!" Theo declared, frustrated. Blaise grinned cheekily.
"Are you sure about that?" he asked his friend, gesturing towards the paper lying in front of them. Theo sighed. He could not deny the evidence that was right there.
He wondered what his drunk self had been thinking last night. And many nights before that. Writing sappy love poems? Really? And then not even hiding them well enough so that Blaise couldn't find them!
Of course his best friend had jumped at the chance for possible matchmaking. Nevermind the fact that Theo insisted he was most certainly not going to be matched, like that. It was a most ridiculous proposition.
However, it took him over an hour to get Blaise to give up his plan. Only when his friend finally yielded, did Theo breathe a sigh of relief.
"Alright," Blaise said. "But you're coming over to my house tonight. I want to show you something."
Theo raised an eyebrow. It was not strange for Blaise to invite him without any reason, but he certainly was acting strange.
"Okay," Theo nodded, after a pause, wondering what the other Slytherin had up his sleeve.
He found out soon enough, of course.
Actually, just as soon as he knocked on Blaise and Parvati's house. The door, he knew, was charmed, and it opened into the spacious living room. However, it closed behind him immediately, and Theo soon realised all the other other doors leading out of the room were locked too. On top of that, neither Blaise nor Parvati were anywhere to be found.
Since he found that the doors refused to open the easy way, Theo decided he might as well try to open the doors using magic, though he doubted he would succeed. A few futile spells later, he slumped into a chair.
Theo sighed. He was sure Blaise had a reason for locking him up like this, and he knew his friend well enough to figure out that it had something to do with his matchmaking endeavours.
Sure enough, the door opened with a click a short while later. Theo groaned inwardly as Padma walked in, looking just as confused as him. Before he could make a bolt for the door, however, it latched shut again.
When Padma looked around the empty room and noticed him sitting on the chair, Theo looked away and hoped she wouldn't approach him. Of course, she walked right up to him instead.
"I suppose Blaise must have brought you here under some pretext or the other?" she asked.
Theo nodded quietly, hoping that would be the end of the conversation, but she comtinued speaking.
"I bet he thinks this is hilarious, locking us up like a childish prank!" she said, just as the piano began to play. Theo looked up at the instrument, startled. The black and white keys were playing by themselves, in a tune he vaguely recognised. He was sure it was from a muggle movie of some kind. Padma too, was frowning intently at the instrument. Suddenly, she started snickering and turned back to him.
"You idiot!" she laugged. He looked at her, confused. She quickly leaned over and kissed him. Theo was completely caught offguard, but she simply pulled away and beamed at him.
"How did you know?" he asked, trying to sound calm even though he was ecstatic.
She nodded towards the piano. He frowned.
Then, with a start, he realised what song it was playing: I won't say I'm in love.
