Harsh words followed Ned since childhood no matter where he wandered. There was no way to escape the insults from the kids at school, strangers on the street, or his own family. Every step he took was just another opportunity for others to harass him. Ned wanted to be alone, to be isolated from a world that doesn't accept him.
But all that changed when in eighth grade, when Ned got paired up with Peter Parker, another outcast. Initially, the two boys barely spoke to each other besides mumbled words. It wasn't until Peter offhandedly brought up Legos that Ned's ears perked up. Ned began talking about Legos for the rest of the class period, passion radiating from his explosive hand movements as he spoke.
Since that moment, Peter and Ned's friendship flourished rapidly, and soon, it felt like they have known each other their entire life. As they matured, unraveling their sexualities and feelings for each other, their friendship turned into a relationship.
Now, for the first time in his life, someone accepted Ned with his fat, his stretch marks, his acne, and everything else that was deemed unattractive by society. Peter would kiss and whisper "I love you" and "you're beautiful" on any part that Ned felt insecure about, and Ned would return the affection by massaging Peter's muscles to release any tension he held (some kisses and tickles would also be performed on Peter's body).
Ned would still receive cruel judgement, but he came to terms that with his physique, the insults would never stop. Ned didn't care though. The only comments about his body that mattered was Peter's. And eventually, after many years of loving, Ned was able to see himself as beautiful as his boyfriend saw him. And these thoughts never changed even as they aged together into happy, wrinkled old men.
