This idea is not purely mine. I just happened to be searching through some Wicked fan art on google images and stumbled across an inspirational picture…if you'd like to see it go to my profile and from my profile got to my webpage (there's a link) and then click on 'pictures' and then go into the 'Wicked' album…
Galinda Upland watched as her roommate shuffled into History wearing a carefully blank expression. A few weeks ago the blonde would've thought nothing of it, but now she could see clear as day that Elphaba only wore such a mask on particularly bad days. "Elphie what's wrong?" the blonde wondered.
"Oh nothing," Elphaba sighed wearily. She settled onto the bench beside Galinda. This movement revealed a sheet of paper taped to her back. It read Kick Me.
Galinda tore the offending message off. She waved it in her roommate's face. "Elphie did you know about this?"
"Of course I did. I'm not an idiot."
"Then why didn't you take it off?"
"I prefer not to dignify Shenshen and Pfannee's little tricks by acknowledging them." Galinda groaned at Elphaba's determined acceptance of her place at the bottom of the pecking order.
"Elphie there's nothing wrong with defending yourself." The green girl shrugged and turned towards Doctor Dillamond, who was about to start his lecture.

The next day Galinda happened to be standing beside her roommate when Pfannee approached from behind with another Kick Me sign. Furious, the blonde snagged her former companion's arm. "What do you think you're doing?" she demanded.
"Tormenting the green bean," Pfannee snickered. "Isn't it obvious?" Galinda's petite hands curled into a pair of fists.
"Leave her alone," she ordered. Elphaba turned around.
"Glin it's fine," the green girl insisted.
"No it's not," Galinda argued. She glared at Pfannee. "Say you're sorry."
"Ooh does the artichoke need a little, pink bodyguard now?" the infuriating girl pouted. She offered the odd pair of friends a condescending snort before prancing away. Elphaba turned on Galinda with a look of mild irritation.
"You really don't have to do that," she growled. "I don't need your help. This is my battle."

When Avaric passed behind Galinda and Elphaba the following morning he had to stop and do a double take. On the green girl's back, unsurprisingly, was yet another Kick Me sign. The shocking thing was that, on Galinda's back, was another sign. It featured an arrow pointing towards Elphaba's back and read Don't You Dare.
