So... here's a little fluff ficlet for you. It's post "The Canary's Song" and it's my first fic ever. Wrote it right after I had watched the episode for the first time. I had to give it a shot although it probably sucks. I wish English was my first language but unfortunately it isn't. I swear I try my best.
A HUGE THANK YOU to my wonderful friend DNAisUnique for her encouragement and undying believe in me. I heart you, girl!
Oh well... here we go...
Feeling A Moment
„I get better looking every day."
Cal nodded slightly with a hint of a smile. If only she knew how right she was. He couldn't even utter a single vowel, he just kept drowning in her beautiful eyes while she clicked the light on his hat off. It didn't matter that she was drunk. Her cute tipsiness just made her more intriguing. As a matter of fact, she was the most beautiful sight he could imagine looking at. The thought of simply gazing at her lovely face all night warmed his heart and he cought himself thinking that he would be completely satisfied doing just that. He suddenly realized that everytime he stole a glance at her stunning features he discovered someting new, something that made him want her even more. She took his breath away. Literally.
Cal couldn't help being drawn to her. He took one step closer to Gillian just as she was leaning into him, lowering her eyes to his… lips? She was dangerously close now, so close he could feel her sweet breath on his face. It would have been easy to just lean down and kiss her. Just a few more inches. God, she looked so beautiful. So... innocent. So vulnerable. No, he couldn't. He couldn't allow himself to take advantage of her like that, given the state she was in. It wouldn't be fair to her. Besides, tomorrow she probably wouldn't even remember much of what had happened.
Her eyes were still closed and suddenly he wondered if she had fallen asleep standing up. He slowly brought his right hand up to caress her cheek. Flinching ever so slightly at his touch, she started smiling, leaning into his hand, yet her eyes remained closed. „Don't go away." He heard her slurry whisper. „Wouldn't dream of it, love." He replied softly, whispering just as low, his words thick with emotion. His voice was raspy and deep and he was sure it would crack, did he try to speak just a little louder. „Hmm." Was all she was saying, or rather purring, as her eyes opened slightly. The next thing he felt were her slender arms wrapping around his shoulders again, holding on to him as if her life depended on it. His own arms were around her tiny frame instantly, squeezing her maybe just a little too tight.
He started swaying with her the way he did before when they were hugging for the first time that night. He felt like he could never be close enough to her. Judging by the way she was clinging to him, he hoped she felt the same way. At least at this very moment. They stayed like this for what seemed like ages, comfortably lost in each others embrace. Cal felt Gillian's head move slightly as her warm cheek pressed against his own. He was about to hug her closer – if that was even possible - when suddenly she uttered sleepily „You know, you can be really sweet when you're not a complete jerk." He couldn't help but chuckle placing a soft kiss into her hair and she could hear the smile in his voice as he replied „I love you, too, darling'."
FIN.
Oh please please be gentle... I had SO much trouble with the ending and I know it's a lame one. It kills me that I wasn't able to come up with anything better.
