Otori and Hoshitani are facing each other. Otori's ready to move onto University while Hoshitani's staying behind in Ayanagi. A mess of emotions flood them, neither of them showing it on their faces.
"I guess this is it..." Hoshitani smiles nonchalantly.
"It is," Otori clarifies as he's smiling.
"Ne...do we...have to say goodbye?" Hoshitani sadly says, hair hiding his eyes. 'Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry!'
He looks up at Otori, eyes sparkling, threatening to tear up while he laughs nervously, "Sorry...it's just...it feels like we're saying goodbye for good. Again." 'Plus, it hurts every time. I think I'm gonna cry!'
Otori blinks, "Well...it doesn't have to be. We will see each other again, but not for a while, so for now..." he assures, trying to comfort his kohai. 'Please don't cry. It doesn't suit you, and it makes me feel horrible.'
Hoshitani smiles, a few tears falling, "See you later then?" 'I can't tell him.'
Otori smiles back, "Yeah... See you later." 'Why can't I tell him?'
'That I love him,' they both think at the same time.
That was the last they will see of each other for the next few years.
Bonus: When they meet again...
They both say, "I love you," at the same time. Pausing, they're shocked but they both laugh and smile, then go out for dinner together.
When the night was over for them, they kissed on the lips goodnight. They've been seeing each other ever since.
