He knows he has a disease.
He sits in the dark, fingering the blade. It slices through his mind, the nerve endings splitting with deadened pain. Through foggy glass he glares at the world; the moon is a cold reassurance that life exists, and he will not have it this way. Not this time. Not anymore.
He smears the blood across the walls. Crimson coagulates on the splintery wood, painting the fibres with death. Outside the stars are shining, and he wishes they'd stop. The darkness comforts him; it's all he has left.
Johnny is a very sick little boy.
