The Sacred Kings by Ness Ayton
First appeared in "The Alternative Robin of Sherwood Zine". Grrrrr more verse break problems which detract a bit from what was intended; needs to be looked at in three lots of four line ideas - if that makes any sense.
The setting sun; the wooden cross;
The people standing round.
The Sacred King his life did give
To save all sinning men.
The setting sun; Mount Badon's field;
A father fights a son.
The Sacred King his life did give
To save all British men.
The setting sun; the jagged tor;
The rocks all steeped in blood.
The Sacred King his life did give
To save poor, hungry men.
