Gilderoy Lockhart, a charming, attractive man was not always this way. As a young boy, he often got in trouble for not paying attention, especially in potion's class. He was always talking with the girls around him, even though the girls wouldn't give him the time of day. Gilderoy was a very slight boy with dark brown hair, blue eyes, acne, and very short. He grew up under the supervision of his polyjuice potion addicted aunt, who was obsessed with being anyone but herself. She often took the form of mice, hamsters, or other rodents who crawled around the floors at night. Gilderoy often went to school in the clothes he had worn for the past week without showering in that amount of time either. So when he walked into potion's class, late as usual, Professor Harron had a sarcastic remark waiting for him.

"Oh, hello Gilderoy, glad you were able to make it. I'm sure you were late because you were showering, right?"

"No Professor," Gilderoy responded with his head down, "I didn't have a ride to school so I had to walk, sorry".

"Just go sit down and take out your textbook, Lockhart." Harron chirped at him as he walked up the middle aisle of the classroom.

As Gilderoy slugged his way to his seat, his classmates and Harron gleamed at him, making faces as the wall of stench hit them. He plopped in his seat and opened his tattered, second-hand potions textbook. As Harron got back to instruction on how to make Polyjuice potion, Lockhart turned around to one of his other classmates, Josie, and smiled wide "You will have no idea what happened last night, I got stuck in London and had to run through downtown to the train station to get here in time!" Gilderoy was smiling from ear to ear, but was visibly nervous, like he was leaving something out. "What do you mean 'got stuck in London' Gildy?" Josie said with a sarcastic hint in her voice. "Well" Gilderoy said, getting comfortable in his seat that was now turned with the back of the chair facing the potions teacher, who was ignoring the defiant student, "it all started when the dementors came to my house for my aunt".
