Needle
Akira winced as the already finger-numbing grip on his hand tightened to the kind of your-bones-will-soon-be-powder death grip he'd never known Hikaru to possess.
"It's just a needle," He sighed as Hikaru's eye followed the sharp tip on the end of the plastic tube as it drew ever closer to tender flesh.
"I know that," Hikaru snorted but it was completely lost when compared to his terrified expression. He tightened his grip on Akira's hand yet again, making Akira wonder why on earth he'd bothered to bring Hikaru here when he knew this would be his reaction.
"It doesn't hurt." Akira insisted.
"B-but. You can get all kinds of diseases from those things. Anything! People have been known to die!" His voice was sounding slightly hysterical now and Akira opened his mouth to say something soothing only to be cut off as the nurse lightly pushed the needle in.
A low groan came from Hikaru and suddenly Akira doubted he'd ever be able to use the hand Hikaru was 'holding' again.
Somehow extracting his hand, he flexed his fingers experimentally before stroking his frazzled lover's hair. "Stop being such a baby."
"I-I'm not being a baby," Hikaru insisted, eyes firmly closed, "it's completely justifiable."
"Neeearly done." The cheerful nurse said as she began to extract the needle. Hikaru groaned and refused to look, Akira however simply watched with interest as the needle was removed.
"It's over now, Hikaru," Akira said softly still stroking his hair, "You can look up now."
"I don't want to," came the faint reply.
The nurse pressed a colourful Band-Aid to Akira's small puncture wound and smiled widely.
"It's all done now Touya-kun," she said cheerfully, "You're free to go."
Akira sighed as Hikaru looked up to meet his eye. "Never," his lover said solemnly, "put me through that again."
Akira smiled fondly as he got to his feet. It was nice to be loved that much.
