We live in a world of love and hate

Where humanity is still under debate

The shove on the street

The glare in their eyes

The words that fill the air

What do they mean?

What do they say?

We are not them

We are not alive

We do not feel

We do not have a face

We are rejects of the human race

Our lives are oppressed

And our hearts slain

So that we might drift away in the wind

What do they mean?

What do they say?

We live our lives the best we can

Hiding in the sewers

Sheltered in a fortress of isolation

Left to fend on our own

We force smiles on our faces and act like we do not have ears

We go about our day without eyes so we do not see the hate

We talk to those that we would never talk to

Because they're all that we have left

Our communities fear us

Our friends abandon us

Our families reject us

All for what?

What are we?

Are we human?

Are we beast?

Are we even alive?

What do they say?

What do they mean?

We are not them
