AN: New story! :D It's based on The Season 3 finale. We never got to find out how Roy's family found out about his death. Please read and tell me how you like it!
Evelyn Montgomery had hoped this day would never come. They day two police officers told her that her husband was dead. She tried to shake that thought out of her head. Just because there are police men at your door doesn't mean that someone is dead, does it?
As she hurried down the stairs tying her robe shut, she thought back to last night. How she had stayed awake until dawn waiting for her husband to come home. Maybe all that waiting was for nothing.
She opened the door surprised to see two familiar faces. "Detective Ryan, Detective Esposito, please come in." She stepped aside gesturing them into her house.
"Sorry Mrs. Montgomery, we can't do that." Said Esposito,
"What do you mean?" No… No… please. Not Roy…
The Detectives looked at each other nervously. "We're here to inform you that Captain Roy Montgomery was killed in the line of duty. We're terribly sorry."
Tears welled up and poured down the widow's face. The two men caught her as her knees unexpectedly gave out.
"Mom what's wro-" Evelyn's oldest daughter Jade stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of two police men comforting her sobbing mother.
"Mom…?" Jade could feel the hot tears sliding down her cheeks, but she didn't care.
"No… Mom what happened to dad?" She shouted in anguish.
"Sweetie I'm so sorry." They cried in each others arms for which seemed like an eternity, until Evelyn remembered the Detectives at the door.
"When's the funeral?" She asked, her voice shaky.
"Well that's up to you." Ryan said.
"Alright, I'll have to think of something." She said, her voice sounding distant.
"Okay. Call us if you need anything." As Detectives Ryan and Esposito turned to walk away they stopped at the sound of Evelyn calling after them.
"Wait!" She walked up to them, already at their car. "How did he die?"
"He was shot." Esposito answered, looking as though he were on the verge of tears himself.
"Listen Evelyn, Roy died a hero. He sacrificed his life to save some one else's. And I know that if he were here, he wouldn't want you crying over him, he'd want you to be proud." The two men then got into the car and drove away.
I know I know it's really short but I wanted to see how everyone else likes it before I get too far into it. So? What do you think? Should I continue it? And before you ask, no. Not all the chapters will be about this family. I can't not write about hat Castle said! But it will be from Evelyn's point of view for the first 2 chapters. (Yes that is her name I checked.)
And yes, I did guess at their oldest daughter's name. I've always liked the name Jade so I gave it to her.:)
