AN: My first ever USUK story! D: Aaha, I'm getting better at writing ( I hope)
VERY LITTLE OOC-ness... just a little, ya know? :)
This is nothing but pure short cotton candy fluffy-fluff-fluff-fluff.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Arthur walked slowly through the seemingly empty street, spinning his umbrella absentmindedly. Rain lightly kissed the pavement and the sky was filled with dark storm clouds, making the day look heavy and sad. Arthur allowed a small sigh to escape his mouth. He should be used to rain already, shouldn't he? He lived in bloody England for God sakes- this shouldn't bother him! Yet, he could feel a slight weight perching itself on his shoulders, making his movements sluggish and forced. He seemed... Empty. Sad even. Like something was missing from his day- that one bit of light that made getting up in the morning all worth while.
Another sigh slipped through his lips.
And with that, Arthur continued his walk, pushing back his loneliness and enjoying the fresh air, not to mention the quiet. That daft boy, Alfred of all people, had decided to make a surprise visit a couple of days ago, making a much needed break of silence nearly impossible for the Briton. The American wanted nothing else but Arthur's attention all week. It was, to say, getting on the Briton's nerves. So, early this morning he had took leave, dismissing the urge to write a note goodbye or even waking up the tired boy. He had needed this, he kept telling himself as he made a turn back around the street leading to his apartment. It was for his sanity! While lost in his thoughts, Arthur missed the rather loud and disturbing noise of a door being slammed open. He ignored the booming footsteps and frantic breath, tuning out and into the familiar pitter-patter of the rain. It was only when he heard his name being called did he lift his head.
"Arthur!"
And just like that, Arthur felt the wind being blown out of him as he was engulfed into two strong, naked arms. They wrapped around his waist and back, nearly squeezing the life out of the poor man. His umbrella, left pathetic and lying in a puddle sat to his side as he tried to regain his balance.
"You twat! I could of fell! And you made me drop my umbrella! I'm going to be soaked now!" Arthur bellowed, not caring that he was literally screaming into Alfred's ear. He felt his friends arms tighten around him for a second before speaking.
"Ya should of told me you left, Iggy! Ya could have been kidnapped or hurt and I wouldn't of known!" Alfred pulled back for a moment to stare into Arthur's eyes. A familiar blue- heart warming and welcoming, yet deep and honest. Looking into Alfred's eyes, Arthur felt an uncomfortable dizziness surround him. Alfred not noticing his friend's silence pulled back into the hug and continued his useless blabber about how worried he was. Arthur tuned out again, staring up into the darkening sky. Clear raindrops fell onto his face but he made no move to remove them. A somewhat tranquil feeling flitted through him and suddenly he felt himself relax into the American's embrace.
It had been a long day, believe it or not.
Suddenly Alfred grew silent and they just stood there wrapped up against each others bodies.
"Arthur..." Alfred started slowly, barely above a whisper.
"Hmm...?" was his response. Arthur didn't want to lose this feeling. He wanted to remember all of it. From the depressing rain to the light-headedness of the situation. From his random loneliness to the annoyingly amazing warmth of Alfred's hug. It was only then did he notice that he was no longer trying to ignore the dark day away. Something else had already done it for him.
"Your heart's beating really fast." Alfred breathed into his ear with a quiver in his voice.
Arthur smiled against his friends shoulder, finally returning the hug gently.
