She was jittery, and couldn't sit still. She twirled her thumbs impatiently.
"Lillian, calm down" her father said not looking up from his newspaper.
Lilly screamed at him and stomped up to her room. She collapsed on her bed, then stood up again and started pacing around her room. How did she look? She stopped in front of a mirror.
"My hair" she gasped, and grabbed her brush, and brushed it a few more times. Taking a deep breath and smoothing down her shirt she ran back downstairs.
"Mum what time is it?" she asked nervously.
"6:35" her mum replied meekly. "We'll go in five minutes" she said, turning a page in her book.
Lilly nodded and ran a hand through her light hair before sitting down beside her dad. Her knee was jumping and she could feel her palms sweating.
Her dad put his hand on her knee to keep it still. "Could you stop?" he asked politely.
She frowned. "Sure" she said and jumped up, continuing her pacing.
Her mum rolled her eyes and slowly stood up and headed for the door.
Lilly raced after her, opening the door and running to the car, trying to open it.
"Its locked, Lilly" her mum called after her, before slowly coming down the walkway and unlocking the car doors.
Lilly jumped in and did up her seatbelt, nervously fiddling with the radio.
Her mum seemed to be driving at 30 m per hour.
"Mum! We'll never make it" Lilly exclaimed, looking out the window and biting her lip.
"We'll be fine" her mum replied.
Soon enough they pulled up to the airport, and Lilly jumped out, her mum waiting in the car.
Lilly raced through the airport till she found the right terminal. She ran past the women collecting tickets.
"EXCUSE ME MISS!" she yelled after Lilly.
"Yah" Lilly muttered running faster. She slowed down as she got to the end of the hall and boarded the plane.
Breathlessly she got on the plane, looking around.
"Lilly?" came a voice from the seats near the back.
He jumped up and Lilly wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You can't leave" she whimpered, tears already streaming down her face.
"I'm sorry" he whispered back, squeezing her tightly.
"You promise you won't fall in love with any other girl? When you come back I'll still be the only one for you?" she whispered in his ear, her eyes glistening.
"Lilly, I love you. No one can change that" he said, stroking her face lovingly.
"I love you too" she said, hot tears still streaming down her face.
"Excuse me miss?" the pilot said, tapping her shoulder. "You're not supposed to be here" he said deeply.
Lilly looked at him. "Just one minute" she snapped gently before turning back to him.
He smiled softly at her. "I guess next time I'm going to have to run through an airport for you" he muttered, resting his head on top of hers.
"I'd like that" she whispered, before pulling back and trying to wipe the tear stains of his shirt.
"It's ok" he said taking her hand and placing something in it, before closing it.
"Come on miss" the pilot said, taking her by the shoulder and leading her away. She looked inside her hand to find a diamond necklace. Her jaw dropped.
"How did you afford this?" she asked, turning back to him. The Pilot coughed.
"I saved up all my money from working" he admitted smiling.
The Pilot sighed. "This is touching, but miss, you have to get off the plane" he said roughly.
Lilly nodded.
"I love you!" he called after her.
She turned around once more. "I love you too Jackson" she whispered, a single tear rolling down her face.
