A wild Pikachu appeared!
What will Charizard do?
Nathan sat up on his bed, eyes widening at the Game Boy's screen displaying the electric rat. His friends at school had told him that the famous Pokémon could rarely be found in the Viridian Forest, so he hadn't expected to find one so soon. The power had gone out ten minutes ago, and he had only started playing Pokémon Red Version seven minutes ago. Without power, he couldn't complete The Legend Of Zelda for the NES that evening like he had intended to, so hunting down Pokémon would have to supply his entertainment for now. He looked over at the Pikachu plush next to his bed in what he had called the box of heroes. It contained plushies of all his favorite Nintendo heroes. For now he only had twelve, but he intended on getting more soon. His mum was always encouraging him to collect something else instead, as she saw him as too old to play with plushies. He didn't care though. If it was Nintendo, he was OK with it. Heck, if they released a Princess Peach Barbie doll he would still buy it. Besides, it didn't matter what type of toy it was. When he set up his desk to look like Princess Peach's Castle and he dropped four plushies on it to watch them fight, they may as well have been real. He had witnessed some truly great battles before.
He turned back to his Game Boy to try and capture the face of Pokémon, but at that exact moment, his Game Boy went flat. He sat there for a while, staring at the blank screen.
"Really?"
XXXX
Nathan practically turned the house upside down search for four AA batteries, but his search proved fruitless. He returned to his room and sat in his bed, thinking about what he could do. He couldn't play his NES, SNES or N64 because the power was out. His Game Boy was flat and the darkness meant that it was almost impossible to see any screen on a Game&Watch. He groaned.
"Blackouts SUCK" he thought.
He turned to a poster on the wall. Well, it was technically just a drawing, but never the less he stared at it. It was a drawing he had done the week before of a battle he had witnessed his favorite heroes fight. He smiled, an idea popping into his head. He quickly ran to his desk, rearranging the books and stationary. The darkness in the room was darkness no more, but space. And not just any part of space. His room was now the vastness of the Lylat System. And his desk wasn't a desk, but a spaceship bearing the Star Fox symbol on the side. He ran to his box of heroes and grabbed two random plushies and dropped them on the desk. He then sat on his bed and watched.
To any other person, it would appear as if Nathan was simply sitting on his bed in a dark room, staring a messy desk. But Nathan's imagination was doing it's magic, and he sat and watched as Fox pulled out his blaster and rapidly fired it, only for Kirby to jump straight over the lasers and kick him in the face.
The battle had begun.
