Jirachi is a pokemon that only wakes for one week every thousand years. The week jirachi awakens is the same week we are visited by the Millennium comet. This is because jirachi uses the energy the comet has built up for one thousand years to replenish Forina's energy using it's true eye. Jirachi rests in the form of a crystal underground in Forina.
One time a man who once worked for team Magma tried to use jirachi and the energy of the Millennium comet to create a groudon so he could have his revenge. In the end his plan failed and order was restored.
Or at least that's what they thought. But far far away deep inside a volcano a real groudon felt the disturbance and to ensure that it never happened again he went to Forina dug into the ground and brought jirachi into the deep caverns of the volcano. Once he reached the center he placed jirachi underneath the lava and after one year he took jirachi out and returned him to Forina. You see groudon never meant jirachi any harm his plan was to ensure that jirachi's crystal was to hot for a human to touch that way they could never capture jirachi again.
Groudon's plan worked jirachi's crystal was red hot, but after a thousand years went by the consequences of groudon's actions were seen. While jirachi was still able to make a friend and awaken from its sleep something was different. While jirachi rested inside the volcano not only did it's crystal become red hot it had become truly red.
When jirachi awoke it was instantly noticed that jirachi had become a different color. What once was white now had a red tint. The once yellow half star and streamers had become lighter in color and the wish tags had become a dark reddish orange.
Thankfully this didn't faze jirachi nor inhibit jirachi's ability to draw energy from the Millennium comet.
And that's the story of the first shiny jirachi.
