Kensi heard the shots as she was moving through the dark hallway and hoped it wasn't one of her guys. She had no idea where the hall led to but all she knew was she had to clear it, just as she turned the corner she saw a man with a machine gun. He fired at her as she turned for cover; her return fire was much more accurate on her SIG than it was on his machine gun. She hit him and he went down. He had no pulse so she kicked his gun away and removed the bandana from his face and then continued down the hall to the only door she'd seen in a while. She carefully opened it and was then faced with another man with another gun, before he could react she shot him and he fell down the stairs. She then stepped out on to the rooftop on a ledge off of the door and shot him three more times just to be sure. Then she saw Callen, she knew they found down, she knew he'd been shot and she knew Eric had called for a medevac. Callen then stepped behind a vent where Sam was giving Dom CPR. Then, what felt like hours, but was only minutes, Callen reappeared and shook his head at Kensi.
"No, no, no." She whispered to herself, but the whole team heard it through her microphone.
"He's gone." Same said over the microphone to the other team members. Then came the very same no's she'd just whispered.
Kensi sat down on the stairs, gun still in hand, and put her hands through her hair as sweat poured down her face. She then started to shake, fearing she may break and lose all control of her emotions, she had to collect herself. After a few minutes she got up, holstered her SIG and walked over to the guys. Callen put his arm around her as for the first time Kensi saw her partner lying dead on the ground. With great difficulty, she held back all the tears. The three just stood there until the other agents arrived to process the whole scene and the ME removed Dom's body. At that time the three agents left to go back to OPS to be with their team members.
They arrived at OPS to find Nate, Eric, and Hetty sitting silently upstairs. They all looked at each other and realized how sad they all looked. None of them knew what to do, so they all sat their looking at each other….not know what to do next. Dom was gone…and no one knew why. Hetty was the first to get up and say "I'm going home, I'll see you all tomorrow. 8 am. Goodnight." That motivated the others to get up and go their own ways home.
Callen ended up at his "apartment" if you can call it that, sitting on a bean bag chair drinking a bear. Sam ended up at home, climbing into bed next to his wife. Nate ended up as his apartment talking to his friend from med school, Eric ended up at the beach. Hetty just went home, who knows what she did. Well Kensi ended up at Dom's apartment, washing his dishes and trying to get a feel for who her partner was because she quite honestly didn't know who he was. Once she felt like she'd been their long enough she ended up at home, finally letting go of all those emotions she'd kept inside all day.
