I do not own Pride and Prejudice. :(
This was inspired by a passing moment in the BBC Mini Series, hope you enjoy!
The billiard's Room
"I believe you will find Mr. Bingley in the drawing room," the butler bowed to Elizabeth Bennett and excused himself.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, 'Of course,' she thought, 'don't offer to show me the way to the drawing room in this unfamiliar house.' She wandered down a hallway, peering in doorways for servants who might be able to offer some direction. She heard a noise in the room to her right and entered, then froze.
Mr. Darcy stood there, playing billiards. He looked up and bowed. Elizabeth curtsied automatically, then turned to leave. "Miss Bennett!" Mr. Darcy called.
Elizabeth turned back. "Yes, Mr. Darcy?"
"Where do you go? Does your sister need a servant's assistance?"
"My sister is quite well, thank you for asking. Indeed, Sir, I was told Mr. Bingley and his sisters were in the drawing room, so my attempt to navigate the manor was meant that I might join them."
Mr. Darcy nodded. "That was to be my intention as soon as I had finished this. I would be delighted to show you the way."
"Thank you, Sir. It would be much appreciated." Elizabeth waited as Mr. Darcy returned his pool cue to the rack and replaced the balls to their proper position.
Mr. Darcy appeared at Elizabeth's side and held out his arm, "Miss Bennett."
Elizabeth took his arm and allowed herself to follow his lead down two hallways. He opened the door and stepped aside to allow her to pass.
Elizabeth swept into the room, curtsied, and sat on a sofa, selecting a book. However, she did not miss the look Miss Bingley sent her when Mr. Darcy entered the room close after.
