It's set before Sasuke leaves.
Sasuke Knows
Naruto.
Comrade. Rival. Friend.
Loyal.
From Naruto, Sasuke receives an unending stream of loyalty. So much it suffocates him, makes him feel as though Naruto is putting all his faith in Sasuke, as though Sasuke must do the same. He knows he can't though; there are other people who deserve his loyalty. People who need it.
He feels nauseous sometimes too. Especially when he thinks back to that day – those words. His brother. Sasuke knows what he has to do. (Betray. Kill. Escape.) He knows why. (Avenge. Power. Family.)
Knowing things doesn't make him any less queasy. It doesn't make him any less confused.
Rarely does Sasuke, despite his apparent arrogance, feel that he deserves all that loyalty. He's not doing something that should make Naruto believe in him, have faith in him.
Sasuke knows he isn't worth it. Sasuke knows more about this feeling than he wants to.
That doesn't make him feel any less queasy either.
Sasuke.
Comrade. Rival. Friend.
Traitor.
