After the Lights Went Out at CD's

By: Trivette Lover Heather

AN: I've been a long time Walker fan, and Trivette by far was my favorite character. It has been years since I have written a Walker Fan Fic and for whatever reason felt the need to today. I was never a big fan of Gage and Sydney and lost the passion I had for watching the show after CD/Noble Willingham passed away. So here is a little tribute I thought some of you may enjoy….

--

"I guess you're heart was so big and so giving…it just gave out huh?" Trivette stared intently at the picture frame in front of him.

C.D. meant so much to him and he had never gotten a real chance to express it to him. He was one of those people who did more for you than you ever realized and it wasn't until that person was removed from your life that you did.

Walker peered over at his partner as he stared so intently at the picture frame. He decided to make his way over, but just as he did his partner stood up and walked past him to exit like he wasn't even there. "Trive..." he couldn't even finish as his partner stormed out of the bar and grill.

"So long CD." Walker turned out the lights and closed the door behind him.

"Trivette wait up!" Walker jogged over to stand beside his friend. "Where you headed?"

"Home." He said simply, continuing to walk slowly.

"You can come to the ranch if you'd like. If you don't want to be…"

"Alone?" Trivette finished. "I've always been alone Walker, always had to do things on my own, make a man out of myself. I can get through this alone, just like I've gotten through every thing else." He had stopped walking just then and stared right into his partner's eyes.

"I didn't mean…"

"You don't ever mean anything man, you're practically perfect. Well don't worry, you're rookie inexperienced, never gonna be better than you partner, is gonna be just fine." He started to walk again.

"Hey I know you're upset…don't you think I am to!" He practically yelled as his partner walked further away. "Don't you think for just one second that maybe I wanted you to come over tonight, so I could have some help getting through this!"

Trivette stopped and turned around.

"No don't stop, keep walking. Go home Trivette. Go be strong and do it on your own like you always have…but remember one thing… if CD ever taught you anything, it was that sometimes you do need someone….he never forced you to be his friend…you wanted him to be a part of your life…because he helped you, because he loved you…so now that you lost him you just gonna push everyone away again?"

Trivette was now face to face with his partner. "I…I don't know what to do…without him here now…"

"Join the club partner, join the club…but don't push me away…he wouldn't want that for us…" He replied softly. "He just wouldn't want it."

"I know…I'm sorry about what I said…I'm just…" He started to shed a few tears and couldn't continue.

Walker reached out a hand to his friends shoulder and Trivette returned it as the two embraced.

"We'll make it… we will." Walker said quietly as Trivette nodded in response.

A few moments of silenced passed and tears weren't held back anymore. Neither of them would have to mourn on their own like they always had before; CD's passing had taught them what the word partner truly meant and it was a life long lesson they would never forget.
