A/N: I know I've been away for a while, but life's been tough and quite frankly, I have no inspiration to write. Well, I do have inspiration but every time I write it down, it flunks. Translation: I'm having a writer's block - again. Anyway. Hope you'll enjoy this! Just my take on Jane and Lisbon's life, I guess.

'And a Happy New Year'
"What is it you want to accomplish next year?" she asked him, her head on his chest, feeling his calm heartbeat under her ear. His arm was around her, holding her against him, cherishing her body warmth.
"A lot."
She frowned and looked up at him.
"I thought you said you didn't have a plan for us."
"Oh, not for us. For me."
"What then?"
"Find a restful hobby, perhaps. Get a dog. These kind of things."
She chuckled as she knew just as well as he did that he was just making stuff up now. After a long silence, he spoke again.
"I do have something planned, though. But it's supposed to stay a secret."
She smiled. "Okay. Whatever."
"That reminds me, I got you something."
"Patrick, it's just a few moments until midnight, are you sure you want to do this now?"
"I want to start the new year good."
"Fine."
He got up, her hand lingering on his arm until he was too far away to reach. He felt sad leaving her warmth on that couch even if it was for just a few seconds. He rummaged through his stuff in the corner of the living – he still hadn't officially moved in with her yet, though he spend pretty much all of his nights at her place now. Everything had happened so quickly that even though they had adapted fast, everything around them hadn't.
"Got it."
He returned to her open arms and sat in front of her, smiling at her lovingly. He handed over the big velvet box and watched her frown as she took it from him.
"Better not be expensive," she half-heartedly murmured while opening it. Once opened, her mouth fell open and her eyes widened. "Patrick…"
He took out the diamond necklace, simple in its style but beautiful nonetheless, and motioned for her to turn around so he could put it on. As he did, he noticed she shuddered at his touch. He left a butterfly kiss in her neck.
"So beautiful," she whispered looking down.
"Indeed it is," he agreed. He made her turn around again so he could look at her completely. "And the necklace is beautiful, too."
She blushed and moved closer to him, until their lips were almost touching. Yet she waited a few seconds, all the while looking into his eyes, and when she heard the first fireworks, she put a hand to his cheek.
"Happy New Year, my sweet Patrick." And with that, she kissed him.
