Summary: Being END ruins everything.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail. Trust me. I would ruin it.
Why did this have to happen? Why did Zeref have to show up and ruin the perfectly normal day? He didn't have the right. He didn't have any right. Except, in a way, he did. END was his to control anyway. END was his creation, his demon, so in a way, yes, he had a right to interfere with the perfectly normal lives of the Fairy Tail mages. After all, Natsu was END.
Still, though, why did he have to come then? Why did he have to put a halt on their good lives? Why did he have to make Natsu tranform into END, and destroy the person he loved, and the person his so-called rival loved, too. Sure, maybe all of this was inevitable, but it was too soon.
There, Natsu stood, horns sprouted out of his head, wings and tail doing the same. His eyes gleamed red. His nails grew long. His memory grew fuzzy, to the point of being non-existent. He knew nothing anymore. Nothing, that is, except that he must serve Master Zeref at all costs.
"END," his master said, pointing his finger at a blonde woman whose brown, doe-like eyes stared at him with fear and shock, "destroy her."
"What?!" she shouted.
When END, not Natsu, ('Who is Natsu?' he wondered) turned and stared at her with slitted, reptilic, vicious eyes, her fear only seemed to grow. And when he grew closer, that only made it worse.
"Flame-brain! Stop! What the hell are you doing, man?!" Another person voiced.
"Natsu-san, don't!" one more added.
He ignored them. Why should he listen to them? He only listened to Zeref. To his creator.
"N-Natsu," the blonde muttered as she backed up further until her back hit a tree.
He paused for a moment. His eyes widening slightly, while a voice in the back of his head yelled at him to stop. Why should he? He was ordered to destroy this girl by Zeref, why should he stop? And so, he continued.
Now close enough to the blonde he lifted his hand to the girl's neck.
"Natsu-san! Juvia refuses to let you kill Lucy-san." A blue-haired girl ran up to pull him back.
For some reason he felt relief for a minute. Then, that relief was quickly replaced with annoyance. This one needed to stop trying to stop him. This was what Master Zeref wanted, and as it was his duty, he had to go through with it at all costs.
He turned around and glared at her. In that instant, flames engulfed her. If he willed it, his looks really cold kill. The blue-haired girl burned, her screams filling the air, along with the screams of another. A man. A man who was so desperatly trying to save her.
"Juvia!" he yelled as he tried to put out the flames.
"It's no use," END warned, "My flames can only be put out by me."
"Dammit, Natsu! Wake up!" he responded.
Lucy, finally getting over her fear, edged closer to him. "Natsu, c'mon, I know your in there." She reached out her dainty hand to put on his shoulder.
END felt shocked. What feeling was this? He tried to light her on fire, but nothing happened. Something was fighting him.
"I must follow Zeref's orders," he mumbled.
His hand shot out and clamped tightly onto the blonde's neck. He could see from the look in her eyes that she was shocked.
"Nat...su..." she chocked out. "Stop... please..."
There that feeling was again. What was it?! He couldn't figure it out and that only made him angrier. His hand only tightened on her neck. She gasped, trying to get air into her lungs, but from the way her body was dangling uselessly, she would be dead soon.
"Na...tsu..." was her last word, as a tear ran down her cheek.
He let go of her, feeling- feeling... mortified. But he was just following Zeref's orders, right?
"That's enough, END, you may go now," Zeref said, and he disappeared.
Natsu woke up to the screams of Gray, who kept yelling and screaming for Juvia to wake up.
"Juvia! Juvia! No, you can't be dead! Not you, too!"
Dead? He looked at Juvia, or at least, what he assumed was Juvia. In Gray's arms she laid, burnt beyond repair, motionless.
"Oi! Ice princess, what's going on?" he asked, concerned.
Gray looked up at him with a deadly glint in his eyes.
"Look what you did to her," was all he said.
"What?"
Gray rushed over and punched Natsu.
"What the he-"
"Not only Juvia, look at what you did to Lucy."
His eyes widened. To... Lucy?
Natsu looked over, nervously, and what he found was her figure laying on the ground with her eyes wide open.
"Lucy...?" He scrambled over to her. "Lucy! No, no! I didn't! I couldn't have!"
"But Natsu you did."
"No! NO! The dreams, they, they really..."
Tears streamed down his face.
"You know what Natsu? I vowed to destroy END... Somehow, I knew it was you, so I was hesitant, but now..."
Again, Natsu's eyes widened.
"Maybe that's best..." Natsu murmured, his eyes shadowed over. "I mean, I can't protect my nakama like this."
"But I still can't, Natsu. Just go, man. I'm not strong enough to be able to kill you."
Natsu repeated the memories. He needs to stay away from everyone. He needs to defeat Zeref. Not because he was END, not because he thinks it'll save anyone. It's because in doing so, he too, will be defeated.
"Then, I can join you, too, Luce, even though I don't deserve to."
A/N: Hope you enjoyed. Sorry for the OOC-ness. I know this isn't the best, but hey, I actually made this pretty long. I feel proud of myself. Anyway, please favorite, follow and review.
