Naru frowned. This was Mai's fault. He had no desire to attend karaoke with the rest of his team. Mai's insistence that they needed to do things together outside of hunting ghosts seemed reasonable at the time. Sitting in the room with the team made him wonder why he had agreed.

Lin sat across from him with Madoka. They had their heads together discussing something. He looked away. There were too many ways for his mentor to cause problems in an environment such as this.

Takigawa returned with drinks for everyone. Naru shook his head at Mai who ignored him. She was the youngest and shouldn't be drinking. She was only 19. Monk had talked to the owner and as long as they kept an eye on her, he didn't have a problem with it. Mai was excited. It was her first chance enjoying adult entertainment. With the exception of Lin, Naru didn't think they could truly call themselves adults.

Everyone had a mixed drink and a shot. Monk gestured that they were to drink the shot first. Ayako put her head next to Mai's and talked to her a bit. With a lot of nodding and talking back and forth, Mai picked up her shot. Everyone else did as well. Naru looked at it closely. He smelled it, trying to determine what it was.

"Chicken," Mai said, her eyes daring him to drink it. She slammed hers back like Ayako told her and took a sip from her mixed drink. Her eyes watered a bit. She could feel the alcohol burning her on the way down. There was no way she was going to fall behind the others. Naru nodded his head and followed her example, refusing to allow himself to choke on the alcohol before sipping his mixed drink. The rest of the table cheered. Lin raised an eyebrow and Naru shrugged.

"Well, we have the room to ourselves. Who wants to go first?" Monk asked.

"I think the one who's in a band should go first," Ayako said, leaning back to look up at her boyfriend.

"All right. Any requests?"

"Something fun!" Mai said, bouncing slightly.

"Only children bounce in their seats, Mai," Naru said, sipping a bit more of his drink.

"I'm not letting you ruin my fun tonight, Naru. Instead of insulting me, you might want to look through the song list."

"Why would I do that?"

"Everyone has to sing a song tonight. Didn't I tell you that part?"
