Chapter 1

Hagrid's Confession

Harry, Ron and Hermione were visiting Hagrid's hut after their lessons. They sipped on butterbeer until their bellies were filled to the brim.

"It's getting late," said Harry.

"We should head to our dormitory before we get in trouble," Hermione replied.

Harry agreed and so they thanked Hagrid for the butterbeer and headed out. As they were leaving, Harry noticed that Ron was not following.

"Ron," said Harry. "Let's go."

"You two go ahead. I need to talk to Hagrid. It won't be more than a minute," Ron replied.

Harry thought this was unusual but nodded and left.

"Well, lad what's the trouble?" Hagrid asked.

"Er…It's nothing, Hagrid. I should go," he muttered nervously.

"Yer here ain't ya? Just get on with it, boy."

Ron gulped. It was now or never. He could feel his cheeks warming.

"It's just that…I know you care for Harry a great deal and I've been finding myself a bit jealous of the attention you give him. Though I'm not sure why."

Hagrid's heart leaped at this. Could it be possible that Ron shared his feelings? He lowered himself down to look into the ginger boys eyes.

"Ronald Weasley. O' course I care for Harry. I've known him since he was just a lad, after all. I've always loved Harry…But I love you more," his last words barely more than a whisper.

Ron could hardly believe what he was hearing. He had desired Hagrid since he was a boy and now that he was of the ripe age of 18 in his 6th year at Hogwarts… he finally had a chance.

"You really love me, Hagrid?" was all he could say.

"Yer all I think about, Ronald."

Hagrid took the young man's freckled face into his hands and kissed him fiercely. Ron went limp in the half-giants arms; his fingers tangled in his thick mane of hair. He wanted to live in this moment forever - and then he remembered Hermione. Ron stumbled out of Hagrid's grasp.

"This is wrong," he muttered. But it felt so right.
