chapter 2 will be up shortly, this chapter is basically filler with a few random details and blah blah blah.
Anyhoo, the real stuff starts in chapter 2 so hang with me :)
Be careful... sleepy head.
"Z-Zelda..." It was a desperate whisper. She turned to find him clawing at the ground with darkness coming his lower half slowly eating him.
"Link! Hold on! Im coming!" But she didn't move. She couldn't.
"You did this..." Links face was a grimace of pain and heartache. She trembled and watched in horror as the darkness started absorbing his body more, he started to look sicker and sicker as each second passed.
"Link!" She finally moved and dived to grab his hand only to watch in horror as it disappeared into dust, the rest of his body following soon after.
"Zelda... How... Could... You..."
Zelda's head snapped up in shock. Her heart was pounding in her ears, a cold sweat covered her body as the effects of the nightmare wore off. She sat up from her position, her back ached from sleeping bent over a desk for so long. She had been studying a map of the surface in hopes of coming up with an idea to finding Link, her childhood friend whom she loved and adored. He saved her numerous times and still came back to her. How hard would it have been for him to just give up and leave? Yet he didn't, and they even talked about having a life together.
The blonde girl rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and stretched. Her gaze was cast to the picture on her desk of her and Link as kids. It was shortly before his parents died of tragic accidents, he was so happy back then. Zelda often felt as if it was her job to cheer him up all the time. He would hide from everyone behind the waterfall and only she could get him out, they were bonded ever since.
He blamed himself for their deaths. In his mind, he thought that if he wouldn't have wandered off they wouldn't have died, but with Zelda's newly founded wisdom, she understood that if they wouldn't have died then, it would've been someway else, so it was her fault and she needed to make up for everything.
The early morning was spent preparing for the journey ahead. She packed a small tent, blanket, some food, water, and a couple healing potions. She didn't know what was on the surface and she wanted to be prepared for anything.
It was her fault Link was missing anyway.
They had lived on the surface for a little bit until weird occurrences happened. She got a little frightened and went to the sky for safety while he went out looking for what was making those sounds but he never came back, and she waited for him everyday.
That was a little over three years ago.
Zelda had swallowed her fears and went to look for the love of her life, at least two days a week she spent on the surface looking. She just knew he was out there, he couldn't die so easily... right?
Groose had gone above and beyond to assure her Link was gone. He wanted her to stop going out every week to go on a wild goose chase. What was more unsettling was the fact she hadn't found any sign of him or anything that kidnapped him or killed him, but she hadn't ever checked the land beyond Faron. She could start there!
Leaping on to her purple loftwing, Zelda raced to the surface into Faron, eager to find something, anything.
It was sudden, like a slap in the face. She could hardly contain her cry of terror when she found Link's sword covered in dried blood. It was near a river with signs of a fight. It was hard to tell who won.
Zelda knelt down and cleaned the blood from the blade. She sheathed it in her bag as best she could before going further. The woods started getting darker and more ominous, a chill ran down her spine.
As the sun set, she put up her tent and laid down inside, her last thought before unconsciousns was of Link, the one she loves.
